Just finished rebuilding my whole cooling system for the 2.0T. Open to questions.

About 3 months ago my engine overheated and began smoking out of the hood. My whole cooling system was full of sludge. The oil cooler failed on me and oil and coolant mixed together. So I decide to fix it and see if I can save the car. After a bunch of busy weekends and about $1,500 worth of parts later, I finally got the car running again. I've been commuting it to work this past week and it's been going well. So I want to give back and help people in anyway. I had to pull the motor out and get the head tested so there was a lot of work that was done. It's not a stock car either, some modifications.

    Ask away!

I have some pictures from the process so I'll post if they are wanted.

Whata the best location to tap into a coolant line so that I can rig up a heater to warm the engine during cold wintwr nights?

You wanna heat the oil. Not the coolant. Get that right first

Both actually...coolant heats the block much faster thant oil.

its not about heating the block as much as it is about the oils ability to flow when its molasses. On super cold starts youre gonna have all sorts of crazy oil pressures and oil might not be protecting your bearings properly when its that thick

You said the coolant and oil mixed, did you check your crank bearings and such or just the heads?

Just the head. Had it checked for warping, cracks, and had it cleaned. The sludge stayed in the coolant lines and didn't make its way into the oil lines and routes. The block was just visually inspected and cleaned.

Well I'm stupid I just realized all my pics were on my old phone. Which refuses to turn on so I only have 2 useless pictures and a list I made of all the parts I purchased.
