    hello all
my S5 is lowered on H&R sport spring with spc camber kit. The camber is sitting at negative 2.1 (max out camber) and toe at .10 and tires are wearing out pretty bad.
Ive read on the forum to set the toe to zero but the shop said by do so it would cause more wear..?
So I need inputs from those of you that are lowered.
What degree of camber/toe are you sitting and does toe indeed help with the wear.

Zero setting will wear the outside of the tire from cornering forces, it will also cause the car to resist turn in and push under faster corners. I would go somewhere in the 1.0 to 1.5 negative on a DD.

Where are your tires wearing? It is the inner shoulder of the tire? Right at the transition from sidewall to contact patch? If so, then that is from too much toe in.

Here's a handy image for tire wear.

Why have you 'maxed out' the camber? 2.1' is far too much and will destroy the inner shoulder of the tires, it will also make the car very nervous feeling on turn in.
Ideally you want to be looking around -1.3' for the camber and a toe of 0.10' left and right so a total toe of 0.20'.

Who set the car up when the SPC arms were fitted, it sounds like they didnt know what they were doing, the arms are supposed to correct the camber when you lower the car, not add more in.....unless you only track the car?

There are a few confusing pictures on the Internet on how camber wear manifests itself on your tires and a few guys on forums who swear camber doesn't wear tires, I can hopefully assure you it most definitely does!

He's a picture to conflict with the one above:

And here's a link to a tire manufacturer who hopefully is up to speed on this subject, look at the description on shoulder wear.

the camber was at -3.X before the spc camber kit. now that the camber kit is installed, the car sits at 2.1. the arms cant be adjusted anymore or else it will hit the inside of the fender.

from what I am gathering, thats more than just camber wears.

Are you sure these guys know what they are doing? Those SPC arms have enough adjustment to pull the camber out if they are adjusted correctly.

Do you still have the original arms? I would pull the arms out, set them to the original arm length and then start again making sure they adjust them to make the SPC arms longer.

Wait, what! -3' from a set of H&R springs, that's not possible, what else have you had fitted, something isn't right here!

    Toe kills tires. Not camber.

I'd find another alignment shop. Springs with control arms should not be killing tires like that.
