Going stage one with a Preexisting torque converter fault

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Searching for opinions. Finally have the funds to get my stage one tune but car currently has fault code for a failing torque converter. Ugh. My question is what's the up / downside to tuning the car with the ongoing fault. Not currently experiencing any noticeable symptoms for the torque converter but when scanned it does pull up a code. My question is with a stage 1 tune am I going to tear up the rest of the torque converter should I go ahead and get the tune or hold off until I can replace the torque converter any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated

A tune will put additional stress on the transmission. I wouldn't tune a failing transmission.

This sounds like a no-brainer...I put a tune on my old 06 Jetta TDI and killed the flywheel in the DSG. I would use the money for the tune towards fixing the torque converter, a tune won't do you any good if you can't drive the car.

Maintenance before mods always. If you have to ask it's probably a bad idea.

If you have to ask you probably can't handle the mods anyways lol

Unless you do the mod to make sure you blow up the failing part and force your own hand to fix it, then you just enjoy pain, I forget what that's called lol

Those transmissions are pieces of shit anyway. Just tune it. If you have no symptoms of a failing trans then you really have nothing to worry about.

At the age of these cars. Tune it and enjoy while your car lasts even if it's just for a 100 miles. I'm so done with my B7. Although I don't really have issues :) just want an S6 so bad. Lol

I haven't even seen that code in months just popped up the once after they replaced my motor an snub mounts I got it back an it showed up on a scan. Took it back to the shop and they couldn't find it. Also threw a brake fault as well but none showed up when I took it back and neither have come back up since. Almost thinking it was an erroneous code as car runs pulls and brakes like a champ.
