You might want to watch motortrend's YouTube review on the gt350.
I would say, if you are after performance, gt350 is a significant upgrade from our car.

There should be some good deals on 2017 Mustangs: http://www.autoblog.com/2016/10/11/f...ptember-sales/ ...Except that GT350 which is apparently 'sold out' except for dealer stock: http://www.torquenews.com/106/2017-f...-still-buy-one

Nice car but I'm too addicted to AWD now though.

i thought this was a trolling until i read this thread. I suggest you go dual pulley and install some mount/insert with sway bar and you will not say the 350 is an upgrade..

Maybe in a straight line but the GT350 is fantastic track car which the S4 is not. Not saying the S4 can't hold it's own but the GT350 is in a completely different league when it comes to a visceral driving experience. If the OP is not a regular user of the backseat and can get along with a RWD coupe then I would definitely suggest making the jump. The latest generation of the Mustang also has a much nicer interior than the previous generation, it's a quantum leap in terms of fit/finish.

This is the GT350 I got a chance to drive. Sounded AWESOME, and I'd go for it any day over my B8 if I was looking for a fun car. Probably not if I needed the back seat or an all around driver. It's a fun car, and does something my S4 doesn't. I'm not a Mustang guy either, but drove it when I was at the dealership picking up my wife's Explorer Sport.

Sticker was $58k. They were asking $5k over that (I probably could have gotten it for $55k).

it is a lot of car for $55k no matter how you cut it.

new Mustangs are way better than even 3-5 years ago. Ford, GM and Chrysler/Fiat/Dodge whatever have stepped it up.

I agree. I've run against one and we were pretty much dead even from a 20 mph roll to about 100 when we shut it down. That's really not what that car is about though. It's a road race tool and a very good one at that from some of the lap times I've seen at Leguna Seca.

This. I live in Cleveland, where winters can go from fairly mild to devastating. In this climate, AWD becomes an awesome help. Add in a comfortable back seat and every luxury, and I'm happy with my car.

That said, that GT350 is completely nasty. My dad is a huge Mustang guy, and the new GT350 is the best one I've ever seen.

Can confirm. A coworker recently picked up a '16 GT350 and we did a few pulls from around 35-95 mph. I was waiting for him to walk away but it never happened. This is with EPL Stage 2 w/ TCU, 93 map (91/e85 mix), AMS cooling.

The GT350 sounds incredible in sport mode especially at redline.

The best suggestion I could give anyone considering a Mustang/etc is to go rent one for a week at any local rental agency first, to see if you can settle for the big step down in build quality and refinement, as well as other details such as the proportions of the car, seating position/cockpit feel, etc. I find that while the new generations of American muscle cars look very appealing on the surface as well as on the track, that may not be enough for someone looking for the complete package as a daily driver (which would be most S4 drivers, I think).

Not really a fair comparison if you're putting a stock car next to a modded one. Throw a tune or a supercharger on the GT350. Then what?

Excellent advice and 100% accurate IMHO. I have a 2013 Boss 302 for weekend fun.....it lasted maybe 3 months as a DD before I went and bought my S4, and the S4 is a far better for that duty.

Yeah, I was surprised by someone doing this trade. The RS7 had ~3500 miles on it. I brought the story up in late July on this thread.

My buddy bought a new dark grey 5.0 track edition or whatever it is and added a large vortec blower with supporting mods and the fucking thing makes about 900whp (stock block) and traps in the 138mph range. I hate mustangs, but I like his. Pretty sure he paid around $30k brand new ordered the way he wanted, plus about $5k for the sc kit...might consider that an option too as it would be way bigger/stronger/faster than the gt350.

Former Mustang GT owner here. GT350 is now a true sports car, not a muscle car. S4 is really a sporty sedan, sports sedan. Totally different animals. An M4 is really the better comparison. Yes, you can DD year round - I had a set of Blizzaks (just like you need snows on our S4s) and would use one or two sand bags if snow was really bad. Not a mountain goat but got around fine.

FORD quality is better than you think and they actually support the Mod community. So many more options than Audi, so many aftermarket possibilities. I did have a couple warranty issues and both the dealer and Ford could not have been easier to work with.

But I wouldn't use the GT350 as a DD. No back seat. Just overkill on normal roads. Way overkill. It makes a great second car in the garage and I may go that route myself later.

I dunno...at first I was excited, but then thought why not...

    BMW M4 - $76k MSRP in Canada @ 425 / 410 @ 3,560 lbs
    GT350 - $74k MSRP in Canada @ 526 / 429 @ 3,760 lbs

100hp vs luxury. You can get 100hp out of the M4 easier then ripping out the GT350 interior

It seems to be anyway. I do like the new Mustangs though, just I know what the interior is like, and being spoiled might have me rethinking

I haven't seen anyone mention how utterly bad ass it is that it was designed around a flat plane crank which unfortunately does negatively affect the torque but still.. Wow! Also I thought I read the handling rivals a m4 if not outright beats it, which I find hard to believe but I thought I read it somewhere.

And I have the exact opposite history. My grandfather worked for Ford for 45 years, and I still won't ever be buying another Ford.

I bought a 2012 Ford Focus Titanium in 2011 when they were brand-new. This was the year when the transmissions had major issues -- It was Ford's first real foray into the Dual-Clutch world, and the clutch and software just weren't paired well together. This was also when they redesigned the MyFord Touch system. I had the car for 18 months, and in that time it was at the dealership at least 9 times, most of the time for a week or so. In every single case, they did nothing.

    1) The problem with the DCT was that it would shudder at slow speeds, and it wouldn't know what gear to be in when driving normally. In parking lots, the car would literally just shake driving around. I've driven many dual-clutch cars, and I know what to expect from them...this was something different. I had multiple service managers tell me that it was expected for the car to shake at slow speeds because the clutch was "preventing damage to the transmission". One of them told me I must not have driven other dual-clutch cars, and then when I told him a list of the cars I drove he said "Then you're just not remembering correctly", before telling me that a few of them don't even use dual-clutch transmissions. He was entirely incorrect on both counts, but whatever. My worry was that this would eventually wear out the clutches, since they were just being dragged all the time, rarely fully-engaging/disengaging.

    2) The MyFord Touch system would lock up *CONSTANTLY*. It would call people without telling me, sometimes just leaving the sound going to the headset, so I wouldn't even know. Sometimes it would answer calls without telling me. When it would hang, the screen would freeze but the volume would start creeping up. I could shut off the car and get out, and it would keep playing for 10+ minutes...the entire time with the volume creeping up. A minute or two after I got out it would be at 100% volume just distorting everything.

    3) There was a stain on the headliner from the factory. They said "We'll fix it". Brought it back a few days after delivery and they tried to remove it, making it far worse. They said, "No worries, we'll order a new one, but since this car is still brand-new it'll be a bit until they're in stock". I called 3-4 times a month to check the status, and every time I was told they were still backordered but they're trying. A few of those times, I requested that they actually check to make sure -- the tech would put me on hold for a few minutes and come back and say "Yup, it's still backordered". Took it to another dealership for another issue (right by my house), and while it was there I asked them to check. The service manager said the request was denied the day it was made, with Ford claiming I had somehow caused it. The other dealership had been flat-out lying to me for 3 months.

Ford quality is *NOT* better than most people believe. There's not a single American manufacturer that matches the build and interior quality of the other big names. They seem nice, they look nice, they feel nice for a bit, but they're made like garbage. My family is a huge Ford family (they have ~10 cars between them, all less than 5 years old), and I can't preach this enough. The only one that I don't find issue with is the new Taurus...the rest still just feel cheap, by comparison.
