    A8/TT Brakes Question | 16" Wheels

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

Can the Audi A8/TT brake upgrade fit a OEM 16x7 Audi sport wheel? I am looking for new winter setup and I want to go down to smallest rim possible so I can keep the tire cost down. Also can this rim fit a 2001 model. I've seen on the net its 98-00 specific range. Picture for reference...

I'm pretty sure they can. I know the Swing wheels you have pictured fit for sure, just barely though. They are the min size. If you go anything beyond that you will have to get new rims. Also the the car pictured has A8 suspension btw, recognize that old pic. Circa 2004.

The Swings should fit any B5. Same size as the facelift sport ones I believe. Also what tires are you going to get? I have Dunlop Direzza DZ102's on my Swings and am very happy with them.

Yes, no problem with swings. My winter set is swings. I have General artic whatevers, and they have sold me on winter tires . If I was buying a set, I'd probably get these at dtd on ebay. http://m.ebay.com/itm/311471276910?_mwBanner=1

I run my snows with the wheels you posted in the pic and no issues with 12.1" brakes. Not enough clearance for stick-on wheel weights so you have to use the clip on ones but no problems otherwise.

I want to run the Dunlop WinterSport 4D that just came out. Do you have any pictures. If so, can you post them up?

I heard that the General Artic Altimax winter tires are the best bang for the buck and almost virtually unstoppable in deep snow like 6+ inches..

Thanks for the insight. I have to locate a set first though.

Really depends on the clearance with the brake caliper. Does anyone know why the its 98-00 specific? There isn't a axle configuration confliction?

Sure. Parked on an incline btw so my suspension appears to be higher than it actually is.

Lol. It's not that high on flat ground. Right now it's sitting on Bilstein B4's (oem sport shock replacement) with an oem sport spring.

Would like to get a modest lowering spring set at some point in the near future. Even on flat ground it still looks a bit high imo.
Still high huh? (mostly flat ground) Is this sport level?

Just measured on flat ground, 26" rear 27" front. Safe to say it's sport.

Ima say sagging comfort suspension lol. Did it have red shocks before the Bilsteins went in?

I don't recall, but the car came with sport rims and steering wheel so I'd figure so.

The previous owner bought those not too long before I bought the car.

Sport wheel doesn't say much as that was a $150 add on by itself.

I never understood how those rims were sporty. I dislike them.

Agreed. Its much rarer to find a b5 without the sport wheel also. And the only wheels that should/could be consider sport in my opinion are the celebrations.

They are called sport rims since there 16", non sport cars came with 15"s. Nothing to do with design. Yea the sport steering wheel doesn't say too much.

Celebrations are the best usdm wheel our cars could have come with for sure. Swings in second, I dislike the facelift sport ones more.

Either way the Bilsteins are as good as the oe sport ones so im fine there. Springs are on the eventual list.
