Hey everyone. Hoping someone here can clear this up for me as it seems to be a bit of a conundrum.
I'm shopping for pads for my 2012 Q5 2.0t. I'm waffling between Akebono Ceramics ($$) and Posi-Quiet Ceramics ($). Now Akebono makes a full set of the ceramics for the 2.0t, but it would appear that Posi-Quiet Ceramics don't quite exist for the front, only the rear.
Now anyone that knows Centric, knows their part numbers are well thought out.
XXX.YYYYY
X=the product line (aka posiquiet ceramic is 105, posi-quiet semi-metallic = 104)
Y=the fitment (13860 is the q5 rear)
So the fronts are presenting issues. Centric recently put their parts finder system behind a login (which suuuuucks, FU Centric) but their stoptech site still has the parts finder, except they don't list fronts so I can't find the fitment code that way. ECS lists the suffix 13220 as compatible with the front, but most other sites list that for the a4 but not Q5. RockAuto lists 13221 as the proper front code, except the Ceramic version of that pad doesn't exist, only semi-metallic. Amazon corroborates that 13221 is the proper part, and that 13220 is not.
SO I'm hoping someone can answer this, if the 13220 is for the b8 a4, will it fit the Q5? Has anyone tried the 105.13220 pads on the front of a 2.0t Q5? I'm not well versed enough in the B8's various braking systems to know what fits and what doesn't so I'm hoping someone can fill me in here. ETKA shows different part revisions between A4 and Q5, but that doesn't necessarily mean its an incompatible pad, could just be a different friction material. And what's more, ShowMeTheParts.com shows Q5 and B8 pads are the same too.
If the ceramic front pad really doesn't exist I'm probably just going to go with Akebonos, despite the modest increase in cost, but I figured I would throw this question out there in case anyone knew the answer. Cheers.
