    A6 3.0T Tune MPG

Anyone on here have a 3.0T with a tune and stock pulley? How did it effect your mpg? Yes, this is easily searched in the B8 S4 group but the driving style between the 2 groups is a bit different as are final drive ratios, aerodynamics, and vehicle weights. I'm also looking at the earlier 3.0Ts, not the later ones with valvelift. I'm not as concerned with HP/TQ gains as I am gas mileage - I've seen some motors do well with highway mileage on tunes as it leans it out a bit more, but it seemed tuner and platform dependent.

    Thanks folks.

Sub'd as I am interested too. And who did the tune? Looking mostly for the classic apr vs giac debate.

There's others too...autospeed and malone come to mind as well. I may just have to bite the bullet and pick one and go, but it's worth asking first.

Wasn't aware of those two yet. I'm only 2 years into my first Audi so everything is still on that learning curve

Dont forget Revo! they've got one for the 3.0T as well. when I go stage 1 I'm probably going Revo because I work for a Revo dealer.

    Good subject!
From what I heard it will mostly depend on the type driving style,if u nice and easy it will be only the normal gas consumption and if you WOT it will suck more gas!

I don't think getting a tune that increases horsepower and torque produces a gentle driving style

Haha yea I was gonna say, I have the GIAC tune, and AWE pulley and since they were installed, I generally have a hard time driving gently. That being said, I can't really say I've ever noticed a change in mpg though, good, bad, or otherwise.

I'm not sure, I'm curious too! Unfortunately I've never been on a dyno or a track

OP, Sorry for the thread detour. FYI it seems like most guys in here who do have a tune, have the GIAC tune, but I could be wrong

Fair enough. I was just wondering if there was any benefit for sustained highway driving, which tends to be where tunes pick up extra efficiency by going a little leaner than stock. Might try out a chipwerke and see what that gets us before spending the $1200 on a tune.

    A6 3.0T Tune MPG

I have the stage II GIAC tune with AWE pulley. As stated above, having the tune makes your right foot a little heavier, but I will say that I have seen the best gas mileage when taking long freeway trips. Last time I drove from Sedona AZ to Las Vegas (approx 275 miles) I averaged 28mpg. That was running 80-85 mph with a couple of "passing" stints into triple digits.
If you are conservative with the go peddle, you will experience an increase in mpg because the motor is running more efficiently.

I got GIAC Stage 1. Cruising on highway i've been getting around 28.7mpg - 29.5mpg. Pretty damn happy about it with more power too.

i started off at stage 1 and got bored of it real quick and upgraded to stage 2 6 months after when apr had their spring sale. i love it! the extra mid range power does wonders for this car. i believe i have the apr pulley kit or whichever one apr uses for their tune. now all i need is to get it dyno to see if the numbers that apr claim are accurate.
