    Turn signal issues

I'm having a problem with my turn signals where they work intermittently. Can the relay go bad, or should I pick up another stalk? Not really sure where to start with this. I'd rather not take it to a shop, because this seems like such a simple problem - I've just never had the turns go bad on this car, so I am not sure what could be wrong.

It's probably NOT the stalk. When the stalk shits the bed, it's usually the cruise control that doesnt work, but it's probably the turn signal relay (located behind hazard switch on dash next to cupholder and traction control button)

It blinks irregularly on the dash, which matches what the actual signals outside are doing. Lately it's been worse. I guess I'll pop out that trim piece with the cupholder and check out the relay. I need to replace it and fix the cupholder anyway. This is as good a reason as any to fix it. Is there a simple schematic for testing the blinker? I'm guessing the relay is similar to VW relays with numbered prongs on it - guessing a Bosch relay of some sort?

It's 110% the turn signal relay, ask me how I know. The contacts on the turn signal relay inside that hazard switch module corrodes and makes for intermittent turn signals. I recommend just replacing it with ONLY an OEM Audi/VW turn signal relay, but you can try and scrape the contacts like in this DIY: (only worked a while for me then the issue came back so I just replaced mine)

You guys rock! I stopped by the local Audi dealer on my way home, picked up a hazard switch, and yep, that was it! Thanks guys. Now on to replace the hazard trim (broken before I pried it off, so it needed to be replaced anyway!).
