    USP bumper CXRacing IC tips

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I took on the project to install this over the weekend but didn't have enough time to do the trimming. It was pretty straightforward just not sure about the bottom brackets and where I can bolt them to. Also, anyone have tips on what needs to be cut on a USP bumper...all the writeups I found are with a regular bunper.

I have a normal upper with an usp lower valance and I didn't have to cut anything on the lower valence. If you put the outlet of the intercooler right above the little nub on the drivers side of the ac condenser you should be good.

Please dont cut your USP bumper. Its a rarity around here.

Post pics of what you have and maybe we can help and prevent you from slicing and dicing your bumper.

I got this Intercooler for $275 brand new. Others have said its fitment is good and they are a decently reputable company so unless you can front the rest of the cash for a direct fit one for me...I guess I'll be making it fit.

My USP bumper is structurally sound but it has quite a bit of gashers underneath and paint chips. I wasn't too sure a plastic bumpers could be restored so I wasn't shy about cutting but after I tighten all the hoses down I'll take some pics if it doesn't fit.

There are good cores out there for great prices. I've got a Treadstone TR6 and paired it with piping from Aliexpress. All for under $340. Links here.

Those brackets look very upside down to me. Pretty sure they are supposed to mount on the top holes for the condenser.

Regarding piping, keep all of the clamps loose, reposition everything until its as far back as they can go, then tighten and fit the bumper. You should not have to trim anything with that setup.

Actually looks like I may not have to trim much I pseudo fitted it and just about got all the studs on the sides to seat. Didn't even hit my fog lamps. The passenger side piping seem to sit kinda low so I had to ghetto tie it

Anybody know about these brackets and what they should bolt into? (this is for previous cxracing IC owners). Feels pretty sturdy without them

Problem is the bumper support bar, not the actual bumper. Here is a pic....: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7I...ew?usp=sharing

    PIctures broke...

But cutting the bumper support is something I have seen before and less of an issue, IMO, then cutting the bumper. Im sure for safety reasons, cutting the support is frowned upon but whatev's

I think I fixed its just a link now. Well I guess I'll get to cutting. Its only aluminum so shouldn't be that hard.

Seems like a good job for a Dremel. But I'm really strongly hesitate to even considered cutting the bumper core support. I don't want to compromise the car itself for a cheap intercooler. I think I took it out to the car wants and I held it up underneath the core support and it fit pushing slightly against the bottom of the bumper. But then maybe that throws off the piping?

Dont start cutting just yet. Those upper brackets are upside down Im pretty sure. They should connect at the upper condenser mount, like I stated previously. This may drop it down enough so that you do not have to cut anything.

That didn't help since lowering it just meant hitting the lower lip. I got it to fit with more cutting than I would've liked to do but now what would be nice is fog light delete grilles...which I'm sure probably doesn't exist. Also, a VCDS mod to turn off any fog light fault

Did you drive it yet? Good or bad? So it's really not possible to use the fog lights anymore? I have spiffy Morimoto HID fog lights that I happen to love.

Okay found a way to make the fog lights fit but I'm not sure what it'll do.

You're not going to be able to align your fogs without that adjuster you removed.
