Please help with tyre bump :'(

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello!

Convinced my colleague to buy the 2016 B9 A4 1.4. After just 2300 kilometres, we just noticed these bumps on the front and rear right tyres. Can someone please tell me what are these? What are these caused by, and how dangerous?

These are Hankook tyres as opposed to the Pirelli that I have in my B8 A4.

    Thank you!

Either upload them to photobucket and copy that URL into the "image" link, or upload using tapatalk from your phone.

Wow, those definitely need to be replaced. Sidewall bubbles/bulges are generally caused by an impact like a big pothole or curb, etc...

Yes definitely get those replaced. One bad pothole and you could lose a rim.

Can't see the pictures properly but from what I see it looks like broken belts... Replace immediately.

That looks horrible and not safe. If the bumps were already there at the time of purchase but you guys didn't notice them I say make sure you get the dealer to rectify the issue. If the car was purchased as is from a private party then that will be a different story.

You might also want to get the rims checked out. Tire damage like that usually only occurs with a serious impact. Just my 2 cents. If you have 17" wheels you should be fine. Anything 18 and over you better have checked

That happens when you strike a curb at a significant speed, maybe in taking a corner too sharply, or hitting a deep pothole at speed. Since the damage is to both the front and rear tires on the same side, it was most likely a pot hole. Unfortunately, there is nothing to be done. It has nothing to do with the make of the tire.

When you hit a bad pothole or curb, it is always a good idea to inspect the tires afterwards.
