    New to the RS5

Friday I traded in my S4 and drove home a 2014 RS5 with 19000 miles. I love it and couldn't be happier! I have some newbie questions (to this platform) that I'm hoping to get answered.

    1. In the S4 MMI, you could turn off the display 2 option that shows on the instrument panel when you cycle thru the buttons on the windshield wiper lever. I can't find that option here. (Hope my horrid description makes sense. My apologies)

    2. Can you turn off the adaptive portion of the cruise control and just use it as a normal cruise control?

    3. In my glovebox I have a device called Pittasoft Power Magic Pro. What is it? I can't find it in the manual.....guessing it's not stock. I'm not sure if anyone could explain what this does or how it works but any info would be greatly appreciated!

I'm sure I'll have more questions as time goes on. Thanks in advance!

Welcome. As a newbie you have to show off your new car. Let's see it.

Item 3 is definitely not stock- quick search says it is a battery discharge prevention device. I'd rip it out unless you are planning on storing the car for long periods
Item 1: No idea what you are asking. sorry
Item 2: I seem to recall reading in the manual that you can disable the adpative cruise. Maybe hold the set button for more than a few seconds? I may be mistaking my cars though.

Turning off the display? Just press and hold the volume control knob.

Tomorrow I'll post pictures of the car.

To expand on question number 1, I finally found it in the manual on page 25, on-board computer 2. However following said instructions, it's impossible to go into the MMI and turn off the options that I don't want. It amazes me this function wouldn't be available for this car.

I did a little more searching around the car and found a camera mounted inside the top of the rear window facing backwards. It has Pittasoft (same brand as that power magic pro module mounted in th glovebox). I'm scratching my head on this one. Might have to find a shop and take it to them. ???

The answer to your #3 question is, That's part of a camera installation. To understand its true purpose go on blackboxmycar.com . On that site they sell blackvue and other camera models. That pitta soft box is used to tap into the fuse box to power the cameras for constant recording while driving. It's a piece of mind and safety for your protection from crazies and insurance fraud and much more. It seems the previous owner didn't want to remove the wiring involved and just took the camera. I would of done the same. That pitta soft box cost 20$ and cameras are usually 200+. Hope that clears that up for you.

You can scroll through the mpg, miles remaining to refuel, and other average figures on the right hand stalk rocker switch, I'm not sure if you can select which ones are displayed though. I usually just have mine on miles remaining to refuel and watch in alarm how quickly it counts down.

The pita-soft BlackVue camera is a great piece of kit, don't be too keen to rip it out if you have it installed. The unit in the glove box is a power saving unit that monitors battery voltage and shuts off the camera if the car battery voltage gets too low.

Do you have the front camera also?

Active cruise control can be disabled in MMI car settings, it can become an annoyance but it's a life saver if you ever drive in fog!

    This
If you have the rear camera still attached, chances are the front may being around the rear view mirror as well. If you can find it, you can turn on the Wifi and be able to connect your phone to it.

Here's the specs and cameras: https://www.blackvue.com

And downloads to run the camera: https://www.blackvue.com/downloads/

I believe it's in the App Store too.

Know exactly what you're talking about and just realized our facelift mmi doesn't seem to have that. My non nav A4 had the menu to select which trip computer options are shown...

Sorry for such a delayed response. I was on vacation and was away from the car for a couple weeks. I have pictures to post but only on this forum section it says I "may not post attachments"!? I can on th A4 and S4 sections on this forum....why not this one?

I reached out to Pittasoft and sent them a picture of the rear camera. They replied and said it was a dual camera system and I was indeed missing the front camera. Since everything is already hardwired I decided to purchase a replacement front camera. It should be here later this week. Thank you for all the feedback and info on that!

I have some after hours "lift" time at the community college tomorrow night. Going to put on the 034motorsports brace and insert kit. I'm excited to see how that will improve the feel of the car. This weekend I'm planning on doing a little drive from Congress to Prescott, AZ. It's a good excuse to get out and drive the car.

General question for everyone....when you're driving and you mash the gas pedal, does the pedal go all the way to the floor in one motion or does it get some sort of hesitation 7/8 down before continuing to the floor? Next time I'm near a dealership I'm going to swing by and have that inspected.
