    Flywheel resurfacing

What's a good shop in the GTA to resurface my original dual mass flywheel?

Also how much would a shop charge do do a proper clutch job? Not sure if I want to do it myself yet.

I had bouchards in scarbourough (midland ave) recently do a re surface on a Clutchmasters flywheel. I think it was $60-80. Depending year make and model I highly suggest ditching the dual mass. My b7 a4 dual mass at 70,000 km was toast, friend just finished his engine build at 160,000 km his was junk too. I personally just don't feel good about them knowing failure rates.

If you want info I've run 3 different clutch setups. Oem, Clutchmasters, and now jhm.

Sure go ahead, how did you find those set ups?

I have a stock B6 1.8T 6spd. I was waiting to finish all my suspension and brake mods then going stage 1.

I was considering the valeo single mass kit. I admit it... I am a bit of a launch whore :p. Would the valeo take the occasional launch?

Stock setup was too soft, not enough feedback through pedal. If your launching on this is assume if it's not out of the car the springs or whatever in the unit will be shot. Dual mass to me was not designed at all for anything harsh or abrupt. They are designed for granny shifting or moderately young grandmother shifting. I have a vid on YouTube trying to find to show what happens from basic daily use and no hard launches you'll be surprised

Clutchmasters single mass steel flywheel, drakes performance stage 3 disc and rs4 pressure plate. Amazing pedal feel great hold the disc was a solid setup for daily and track use. Pedal feel was great, enough feel to it that u know you had a serious setup. I liked the weight of the flywheel a bit better then the aluminum, the off throttle decelleration was nice smooth and not too too fast, this is great for shifting quick Imo as it doesn't drop off as fast as aluminum. Reving up was noticeable better due to the lighter flywheel so accel was noticeably faster. Launches I only did one track day, few hard launches on street nothing crazy but it held. The dual mass I won't trust for launches. (This setup was on oem slave cylinder and oem master cylinder both are plastic with a rubber line)

Jhm aluminum fly, stage 3 disc and rs4 pressure plate, upgraded metal slave, upgraded master cylinder and stainless steel line. Ok my car now is litterally imo full race setup. All aluminum mount, stage 3 everything (james12lucy has rode in it he can explain too). Jhm flywheel to me is awesome how light it is how fast it revs how quick it is. Fully balanced crank, rods, Pistons everything has been dialed in to be 100% true. So it's fast revs, off throttle to me it drops off noticeable quick, I'm getting used to it but it's different. It's not hard to drive but it's honestly a bit of work as everything is ridgid solid all together 1 solid piece. It's a light weight great unit. The disc will handle nearly anything they told me it was a bit much for the build but I got it for stupid cheap so into the car it went. It feels great the rs4 pressure plate feeds you back the info to drive, the steel parts also make sure fluids are 100% spot on no squishy feeling for expanding rubber hoses. Which until you've driven something like mine you wud not ever know this difference. But now I feel the difference. Short throw shifter is an insane improvement too. My shifter moves very very little compared to oem. Less the have the throw from gear to gear. You'll move from 2- neutral that's my entire shift 2-3.

specs of motor build sent via PM.

Launching whore should change to single mass it'll handle lots more abuse.

I'm with Canadian, his car is completely solid. It even had less vibration than my car, which is on OEM clutch and flywheel. I never rode in the Drakes setup, but the JHM setup in his car is exactly as these things should come with from the factory. It's the equivalent to an E46 M3, which might be the best OEM manual tranny I've ever shifted.

Seriously, the setup in Canadian's car is perfect and exactly what I'd like to duplicate. It revs quickly and does fall off, but he's making enough power to bring them back up.

I've launched my OEM dual mass/OEM clutch a few times, and it'll barely hold my JHM 93, stage 2. I will be needing to replace it sooner than later. If you plan on putting power down, plan to put it through a single mass and clutch with RS4 pressure plate.

Easier solution make me an offer for the complete car!! If u leave it with me untill next spring you'll get a new EFR 6758 under the hood, ie intake manifold, and meth. It'll handle all the launches you can throw at it!! And if I can get launch control and no lift shift operational you'll never notice the engine drop in rpm cuz racecar!
