Cost of parts to DIY? <$100 http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail....od=GF21011%2DG

Probably takes around 3-4hrs for the RS6.

The gaskets can be a PITA to clean up. The gasket material tends to become rock hard with age and if you're too aggressive trying to remove it you'll damage the soft magnesium alloy that's used for the valve cover. Look through some of the threads for tips on how best to clean/remove them.

    Pull motor.

J/k....it can be done in car. Dealerships will tell you motor has to be pulled, according to Audi. Its not a bad job, just time consuming.

1.0-1.5hrs for drivers side and 2.0-2.5 for passenger side. Time for each includes removal of all coils, wiring, hoses/pipes, cleaning /degreasing, and general shop clean-up. Passenger side is hindered by a fuel line and a coolant pipe that make removal more difficult. Audi states you need to pull the motor so that you can remove the coolant pipe which snakes up over the front side of the cover, but it has been proven by many over the years that you can simply remove the front fastener and "flex" the coolant pipe out of the way.
