Oil filter housing

How in the world does this thing seat. Seems to fall everywhere and is an extreme headache when changing filter. I feel as if I have it in wrong

Sits on top of the center peice that the filter goes on to. Acts like a check valve when the cap is installed. That plastic peice usually has a longer peice that goes into the spring... mine was snapped off too.

Or it probably sells with the whole housing right? 😂

Looks like it's part of the housing assembly... 06E115405K (whole housing)
