Installed the AWE touring exhaust today

And wow, that sound is pure sex. I was concerned about the other half and the new found harmony. I think it's actually quieter than the Soundaktor, which I turned down to 0℅ after the install.

Installation was relatively easy. Took about two and a half hours, with 30 minutes wasted removing the valve controls. I undid the three bolts, not knowing which style electrical connector they used and couldn't see how to release while installed. It was super simple, pull the tab, then slide off. Wish I had known that.

    Then the next problem:

Yes. It was bought new, there was no shipping damage, haven't reached out to the guys at TAG yet, or if I should go straight to AWE. I managed to get it round enough to slide the pipe in, I wasn't putting the stock exhaust back on. I don't even know if it's an issue or not??

I was able to put PB on about two hours prior, which helped removing the four OE brackets. Grab an exhaust hanger remover and the install is simple. I spent too much time working on the tips, it dropped after a short drive about half an inch.

Armed with that info, you can do this in your driveway in two hours.

Damnit. I had pretty well made up my mind on going mgnaflow but have been very intrigued by the awe option and worried I would regret not nutting up and doing it right from the start.

The awe Is $3k installed here in the Vancouver Canada area which is BRUTAL. The magnaflow is half the price!

Decisions, decisions.... can't decide whether to keep saving for the carerra s, nut up for the awe or keep it low cost and go magnaflow..... f***

I can attest to the sound and quality of the AWE Touring exhaust. I've had it installed on my SQ5 for about 3 weeks now and I still fall in love every time I go for a drive. Only regret... Not doing it sooner. Only drawback to having this exhaust... your average MPG is sure to plummet.

I turned my soundaktor completely off as well. AWE actually recommends this as it may create drone when running their exhaust system. Sounds perfect now.

I can also attest to the AWE touring system. I installed it in mine even though I didn't think I would ever feel the need for an exhaust upgrade. It's now one of my favorite additions that I have made to the car. Not overbearing but just right to put a smile on your face.

Post up in your regional section. Certainly someone close by has a 3.0 with Touring in your area.

Thx Mops, will do. With exchange, shipping and duty I suspect it would be more than the cost here which is $2650.

I can only dream of the days when the Canadian dollar will back to par with our friends to the south. We'll see how your election pans out. That might help our dollar a little

Finally pulled the trigger! Found an AWE touring exhaust with 700 miles on it and worked out a great deal with the boys at XLR8. Can't wait to unwrap and install it. Thanks, Alex!

Anytime! Glad we could hook you up with that system.

Make sure you post some videos of it after you get it installed.

    Thanks,

Did you have to raise the vehicle at all to do this or was there enough room underneath without lifting?

FINALLY did the install today..but only had about 10 minutes to drive it before I had to grab the kids. First impression is it's louder than expected, but sounds amazing. I'm not sure how to describe it, but I'm sensing some sort of back pressure or imbalance, and I'm wondering if it's because I am using the factory intake and inlet hose? Should I be modding something up front to compliment this bad boy?

I've now driven it for a full day and LOVE it. I think the engine needs to breathe a bit more, but it could just be me. Thanks for all the convincing boys! I'm super happy with the decision.

Haha, you're excited. Glad to see! I'd stretch a bit and grab the AWE carbon S-FLo.

I'd give the inlet house a shot since it's relatively inexpensive. You could modify the stock airbox as well.

I haven't modified my airbox (yet), but the 034 hose made a nice difference all by itself. You can hear a little bit of whine around 3,400 RPM if you're in front of the car, but don't really notice it inside.

I don't know. . .with some of those "pretty" intakes, you have to put their stickers on to counter the loss of power.
