Is it me or is 179-184 the best bet for performance vs reliability?

Why are you doing down to 184?

I was wondering the same. But I think the bigger pullies have more tuning issues

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't you run dual pulley with just stage 2 and the benefits being it just hits peak boost faster?

it depends on your tuning company. The GIAC stage II file will allow for headroom, particularly after 5,200rpm.

Lets say you install this 194mm on the crank, but decide to keep the OEM pulley up top, your ratio will be similar to someone running an aftermarket brand S/C pulley + a 179mm crank pulley. The GIAC file will allow for near 0% bypass after 5,200rpm.

Good point! Thanks for the input. Didn't think about the ratio with the stock SC pulley.

Yes like Loe said it depends on your tuner. GIAC has headroom up top as mentioned. APR benefits below 5000 rpm from my experience. Adding the CW to my APR tune (on the APR upper/179 and 194 lower pulley combos) gave me a very significant increase in power up top where boost would otherwise have been bled.
With APR/CW, the increase in power I felt from the 194 was similar to the difference I felt going from stock crank to the 179mm.. I was very happy with that setup but since APR couldn't tune my trans I had to switch to GIAC.

FWIW if I couldve done the APR TCU, I'd still be running my CW stack with the 194... Now with the current tune I'm running I find that the 194 is more than I need. I should be able to run quickly on the 184 and potentially produce less heat as well. Just giving this is a try...

Agreed, you should be able to run quickly on the 184 mm over the long run while maintaining better heat control. Also the 6-rib pulley will not require the grinding of the engine block for clearance. I love my 194mm, especially the monster it is on a 3rd and 4th gear run, it's an entirely different animal and like you said, it's like going from an OEM crank pulley to a 179mm crank pulley again.

Someone should snatch these up! I get why both of you are taking it off, too much wheel hop on a solid pull with DSG. Im getting some really nice launches, but at the expense of my clutch for sure.

Tried to PM you, not sure if it went through or not. I might not have enough posts to send a PM. If not, please shoot me an email at stangman701 at aol dot com. I'm interested in the crank pulley.
