    Worth fixing?

Well after almost a year I finally got to tearing apart the s4. Just need to borrow a engine hoist and pull it out. Point of this thread since i'm this far into the job. Is it worth fixing the engine or throwing another used engine in the car? ($3000-$4500). Not sure what exactly needs replaced in the engine yet. Compression check had couple 0 and low psi readings on passenger side. Driver side ranged from 90-140s if i remember right. Engine will still start. Before whatever broke the car seemed pretty fast and peppy, even compared to my vr4.

The car has 155k miles. Black on black. MT. Some chips in grill and hood. Very small spot of rust on couple of the wheel wells. Wheels have some curb rash. Crack in upper center/right of windshield. Tires need replaced. Ac compressor is most likely shot. Some knobs have wear and have paint missing. Seats for most part are in great condition.

At this mileage i would say its going to be a money pit. Sell as is, take your loses and invest in another platform.

Used engine may not last as well, and who knows if you can rebuild the current engine.

    Good luck

Did the timing chain guide snap causing chain reaction of major engine/valve damage?

That's not necessarily true, it all depends on how well the car has been maintained.

That said, if it has been sitting for over a year... clearly it hasn't been maintained.
