Angry APR Stage 2 with TCU tune- Refund question

I am having the following serious problem at the track with this tune. I contacted APR and they responded at first, but no response since. I asked for a TCU refund as its not working correcty, but no response again. Does anyone know who or how I go about this? With, regards to a refund

I am not exactly sure why this is happening, but I went to the track last night . I used launch control and first, second and third gear my car hit the rev limiter around 7200. Why is this happening and how I resolve? The car is bouncing off of the redline and hesitating before shifting.. It almost seems as though the ECU tune does not know when to change gears when I drive it hard and its bouncing off the limiter slowing the car down

This is extremely frustrating and the support from APR has not been helpful. Example below

Contact the local dealer that did the programming. They'll work with you and APR in getting the issue resolved. If it comes down to a refund, they'll be the ones that can do that as well.

    1-2 shift looks good.
    2-3 hangs for a second.

There is a big thread on this issue here.

I would contact Arin and have him help you out. I believe they have a 30 day refund guaranty so if you are within that it should be no issue.

If you are out of that it might take some arguing skills.

I posted that video in the big APR DSG thread, and my general take away was that this is a slightly different issue.

I watched the video, and was thinking mine does the same thing. Then I realized that was my video.... D'oh.

I'm hoping the new DSG tune fixes the hangups I see, but I don't know. The hangups seem a lot worse for me at the drag strip; I wish I had good video as it's a lot worse than the above video. It's the only real complaint I have about the APR software. Definitely a little wonky for $1000. I'm not sure if it's slipping the clutch and/or somehow related to wheel spin. My logs show I am over-revving to 7400 when it happens. I had a minor variation of this on the stock DSG software with APR stage 2, and it seemed like it happened when I got some wheel spin. It just seems a lot worse and more consistent with the APR DSG software (happened once every 10 times on stock DSG software, and happens almost every time on the APR DSG software).

how much tread do you have left on the tires? Looks like it's slipping

At that rpm you have the most torque

Looks like why it is bouncing only 2 to 3

I have PSS's that probably had 90% tread in that video. I'm at about 75% now. At the strip, I've tried every tire pressure imaginable....

APR Stage 2 or anything Stage 2 doesn't make enough power to slip tires on gear change 2-3, lol.

I used to slip stage 1 e85 blend with low tread

At that point wasn't really paying attention on the gauges more on the road. Have you ever seen a car that can't grip, has the same reaction

I'll take a look at my GoPro later today to see if I have any videos that capture this at the drag strip where it's a lot worse and more obvious. Unfortunately, most of the videos I have don't show the tach, so it's hard to really tell what is happening.

And, actually, I know I said this is my only complaint, but I'll add one other issue that annoys me at the track.... If I have to go into reverse in the staging lane or shortly before I try and use launch control (say I overshoot the line), launch control will not engage. That's a common occurrence at the drag strip since I usually do a quick stab of the throttle to clean off the tires once I get around the water box. I don't mind not using launch control, but when you are expecting it to work at the starting line, and it doesn't, it's a little disconcerting at that point.

It's the tune dude... ain't the tires. Everyone's bitching about hiccups in the TCU tune and APR's been dragging ass for like a year.

The biggest frustration is that if you are at the track it slows you down. Getting slower times

Ok, here's a quick video of three passes I made at the drag strip. All have varying degrees of shift hangups on 1-2 and/or 2-3.

That is pretty bad. Was one of those your best pass? That's hurting your ET a bit. I'd have to see the logs to see exactly how much but it could like .1-.2 of ET that can come back from that. Also the one handed pass is gangster LOL. Nice logging setup too.

Is it any better when you use the PT/2 foot method?

Ha. I wondered if anyone was going to say something about my one handed launch. I didn't realize I was doing it as I usually drive with two hands. I think I was messing with logging and setup, and wasn't quite ready. It is a testament to how easy these cars are to drive....

One of those passes against the GT-R was my second best pass at something like 11.87 @118. I've gone a little faster with slightly less hangup (11.81@119). It looks like it is costing right at .2 seconds.

It only happens if I engaged LC. If I do the PT method right, it does seem like it engages the LC since I hit the gas just before releasing the brake (I think that first pass in the video was a PT attempt).

I think that is vmax mode, not LC, but yeah that does seem to be where the problem lies (either)

Amax? Yes that is right. To Mike's point above, we're guessing the issue is some problem with the interaction between the ECU and TCU tunes.

I believe vmax is top speed.

It would be sketchy trying to launch one handed on these DP setups lol. I think you'd be better off with having them remove LC and keep AMAX like Ron was running. Very good MPH but yes I think you're ET could easily be around 11.5-11.6 with cleaner shifts.

My biggest issue with this is that we spent money on this and APR knows there's an issue and not response or no fix shows some level of not caring

APR said this was fixed. They have been making files for months now. I think it is actually an ECU tune fix not TCU, and I think we're all expecting the ECU fix at the same time as ultracharger release.

At least I'm not buying ultracharger until they fix it.

since the last thread with the bogging they said they were "working on it" didn't they? i know I'm still waiting for SOMETHING.

my car HATES the drag strip, it just never does what it's supposed to with the TCU tune. Hell, my best runs are without launches OR dynamic mode.

It may be an interaction issue between tcu and ecu tune.

I never really noticed one since going APR stage 2, now I was stock previously. I will say that a couple of times when using launch control or stability control off I get a strange shift from 1-2.
