Hey Guys, so I installed this dashcam from Ebay last night. It took me about an hour to install. It comes complete with everything you need to get it up and running. It fits nicely but I did remove the rain sensor all together. The pictures don't show the camera flush to the top housing due to my phone cord coming out for my escort radar. If I didn't have that it would be perfectly flush. Link here incase anyone is interested. Be aware it does take awhile to arrive from China. They make these for the B8 and B8.5. I ordered it on Oct 3rd and received it Oct 20th.
I ran the power up threw the stalk of the rear view mirror, under the sunglass holder, along the top and down the passenger A-Pillar. I removed the A-Pillar by taking off the T-27 torx bolt under the "Airbag" logo on the pillar. Pulled the A-pillar out, which was very difficult down by the speaker, but some tugging and wiggling and it came out.
I threaded the cabling down by the passenger fusebox and shoved all the extra cabling in there. I attached the ground to the exposed bolt, put the constant(yellow) 12v power in the middle (tan) section and the ACC (red) to the left section. I was told that middle section has constant power it did look like the camera had power with the car off, although I can't confirm this 100% yet.
Connecting the camera to my phone was pretty straight forward. I will post more pictures and videos today of the quality.
These are pictures from the Ebay ad.
My apologies for the crappy night pictures but I hope you can kinda get the idea. I will take video tomorrow and post up the results. Please let me know if you have any questions at all.
The two ends; left mesh connector comes from the camera and the one on the right goes to power, ground, etc.
