    Popping sound when braking

Two or three weeks ago I noticed my car would make a popping noise somewhere in the front end when I reversed and then applied the brakes the first time. It would not happen again if I continued to drive in reverse but would happen as soon as i started driving forward and again, only ht first time applying the brakes since changing from reverse to forward. It's as if something is shifting and knocking against something else. Car has about 96,000 miles and the front brakes were changed a few months ago. anyone have any ideas what it could be? Motor mounts, suspension, axles, CV joints?

    Thanks in advance.

What brand pads did you go with? I bought my car with aftermarket brake pads and it did the same exact thing when first applying the brake after switching from reverse to drive.

I just replaced my front pads with TRW pads from Amazon and no more noise. The problem with some brake pads is that their fit isn't perfect and shift against the caliper pins when you switch directions. Had this also happen on my Saab with Akebono pads.

They actually are Akebono pads, but its been a few months since they were put on and the noise just started a few weeks ago, or at least that's when I started noticing it. Anything I can do to prevent it or should I just get used it to it?

There's no way to stop it, but I had no issues with the brakes otherwise.
