    Need to take weight off the other end. Looks like they have hood, roof, trunk, rear fenders, and front bumper as well. Would be cool to make an all carbon front end (fenders, hood, bumper, doors) - you'd probably save 50-100 pounds of weight where the car needs it most.

    Front end is already really light, fenders and hood are aluminum and the bumper is pretty light. Adding a carbon hood actually adds weight.

    I would be very interested in a replacement roof.... Taking out the 50lb sunroof and 20-30lb roof panel would be pretty sweet...

    Actually, delete sunroof and just replace with carbon panel is easier (E30 M3 folk has them so I imagine is it not hard to do with RS4)

    Got a fender replaced recently. When I picked the fender up from the shop table it felt like I held nothing in my hands. OEM fenders are as light as paper.

    Easier, but doesn't look as good. I would love to have a slick top RS4, I'm curious if any where ever made in Ibis....

    According to the seller, he will have roofs made in two weeks, I'm waiting to hear the price, also going to get info from my bodyshop for the procedure to swap roof skins.

    Would you need to beefup the roof with carbon roof? I am not sure how BMW did it the M-cars

    The roof is going to act as a shear surface in stiffening the car. Carbon fiber isn't quite as rigid as steel, but this is about three times as thick (factory body panels are 0.45mm steel) making it stronger than the steel it is replacing.

    ^ Would be interested to see how they bond the roof in. I'm guessing they would cut the steel roof panel out and epoxy the CF panel in?

    The roof would probably be the best weight savings on the car, as you'd be losing a pretty substantial amount of weight (steel roof + sunroof = heavy) from the highest part of the car.

    Back in the day, GMG made CF widebody doors for the B5, I bet those would drop a hundred pounds from our car as well (although the reports from those doors was that road noise increased dramatically, as you might expect).

    ^ Probably. I doubt they would provide the structural integrity of the originals, or at least I wouldn't trust them to. On a caged car with NASCAR bars, it wouldn't be an issue though.
