    Coolant leaking, but from where?

So I see coolant coming from the bottom of my motor, I cannot seem to find where's it's coming from. It's on the front of my oil pan on, more on the left(driver side) of the car. Anyone have any ideas? It's not rushing out but it's a steady drip. I have a video I'll post a link

My first guess would also be the tubes on the front of the SC. With that much of a leak it shouldn't be very hard to figure out where it is coming from.

    Hopefully it is something simple.

Thank you guys, well the hoses all up top are good. I have put my camera in every crevice I could find. Seem to come up with nothing...

Based on the video it could be a few things. Sorry for the paint useage.

    Ordered by probability.
    1. A connecting hose for both hard lines, it tends to get swollen and may have cracked.
    2. SC outlet pipes for both IC's
    3. Water pump, if the pump itself is black plastic thats it for sure, if its metal then you may have a loose bolt of bad gasket you can check by feeling around.
    4. The connection for both hardlines from the IC to the metal Hardlines where the leak is next two. This is least probable

I would keep the main radiator hoses and lines bolted up and just pull it out as far as you can only disconnecting the top hard line to the expansion tank. If you unbolt it you will need to disconnect the DSG lines which leaks out about 8-10 ounces of fluid. Also you may need to replace orings in the lines and in general they are a pain in the a$$. I am headed to lunch but will be back on here in an hour to answer questions if you have any. I have part numbers for almost everything in there as well.

Oh okay, thin I it would be easier to unbolt the core support and pull it forward a little?

I would put it in service position and poke around. Should hopefully give you enough space to track it down.

Is the car stock or does it have any mods? If it has an APR upgraded cooler in it, check the hose cap that's on the T where the system was divorced from the stock setup. The old version of that cap used to crack over time. When did this problem start? Did the engine sound any different when you noticed the problem? When did you notice the problem, was the engine cold, hot, etc.?

Apr stage two. No cooling system mods. Waiting for the new ultra to come out as well as the new heat exchanger. Engine was hot when it happened(did not overheat).

I've put my camera all around the water pump and I've come up with nothing. Continuing my search.

Its much easier to change it if just take the rad completely out then you can use an impact gun and not deal with the pin wrench. If you decide to do that I highly recommend getting a subscription to www.alldatadiy.com/ for our cars. Its like $16.95 for the year and walks you through everything.

You will need a 10MM triple square bit

    And a t30 torx.

If you do decide to take the radiator off, its best to replace the orings in the connections. I have those part numbers if you decide to go that route

Also these two connectors on the back of the rad suck hard.

Wow thank you man. Removing the radiator seems to be not as easy as I thought. Lol. I can't find a diy post for it :/

Mine was leaking from the bottom of the overflow tank. The reason it was leaking was the cap O-Ring was bad, creating too much pressure. Check the cap and inspect the O-Ring. I spent almost 1K looking for what was a $9 fix.

Ouch that sucks... I am replacing my cap o-ring with my maintenance, I figured why not. I never thought it would cause that kind of problem though glad I did that!

This thread rocks and is exactly why audizine is so cool for owners. What other audi board, or any car board for that matter, would be equivalent for members going above and beyond to help fellow members out?

You guys are awesome. I hope you guys are there when something breaks on my s4 and I need your help. I may get the audi all data subscription anyway just to look around. Especially if it's only $16 per year.

Kudos to all you guys that have helped. Way to be stand up members. I'd offer suggestions but they would be uneducated at best.

Best of luck on the repair brother.

notorious on the 3.0T. Could have been leaking for a while, slow like mine was. Mine was dripping on the belt under load, spray the front of the engine compartment and would leave a white residue and faint smell of coolant. Got worse and I had it warrantied. I was told that it is a problem, Audi knows, and is yet to put out a TSB for it..
