What exhaust tips option for my S5

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi, every time when I detailing my S5, I found it is pain in the ass to clean the exhaust tips! But the after market exhaust tips(CYBA) that on my 335i are so easy to clean (the attached image)! just hose off the dirt that's it! So is there any options for exhaust tips? Or I should replace the whole exhaust? I never replace exhaust on any of my cars since I don't enjoy loud exhaust at all but if there is an after market exhaust that doesn't sound loud then I may consider it too.

Awe 102mm exhaust....quiet around town and a little louder when you drop the hammer.

Depends what you are looking for.

Like stated above AWE makes quite a nice system for these cars.

There touring system gives you a quiet but noticeable around town rumble with all the additional sound when you go WOT.

If you have any more questions or concerns with one of these systems let me know.

    Thanks,

    Alex.

Any tips are going to have the same issue when it comes to cleaning. The more often you clean them, the easier they'll be to clean each time. Just change your method for cleaning the tips. I use Eagle One Nevr Dull to clean my exhaust. You can also use wheel wax to help repel dirt a little better, but carbon buildup will still happen on the exhaust no matter what you do. There's no magic exhaust out there that's impervious to having dirty build up on it.

Your other option is to go with an exhaust with black tips, which I believe AWE offers, too.

You see my attached pic of my 335i, the cyba aftermarket exhaust tips can hose off the dirt very easy and I never wax it or not and it has been on my car for 5 years, it still hose off all the dirt without any rubbing.

Are you sure it's not ceramic coated from the factory? That could be what gives it a decent resistance

No idea will it be any ceramic coated but I doubt it. The description is "Titanium Tips with Blue Burnt treatment" and I paid $130 shipped for a pair

Does AWE sell just the tips to non-dp/cat-back system owners?

Edit: I see OP said full exhausts as well. My bad.

Actually, I prefer tips since I am satisfy how quiet the stock exhaust is. And cyba only make tips for bmw. So if I have no choice then will go for some quiet full exhausts

If you don't care about sound, and you don't care about performance (the very very minor performance) then why not just go to a custom exhaust shop and have them weld on whatever tip you want. Maybe another set of what you're rocking on your BMW. Certainly a lot cheaper option than spending the $3000+ on a cat-back system.

The AWE tips looks awesome but I definitely need to give them a good scrubbing every car wash, definitely no where near just being able to hose them off. Some members who don't clean them often have to put quite a bit of effort to get them clean again.

I dont see what the difficulty is in just buying the tips you have on you bmw and having muffler shop cut stock tips off and weld those on. Tips are tips.

Any reputable exhaust shop would be able to handle the job just fine. My Cobb muffler blew out on me on my Subaru, and I didn't want to buy a new tip. I just bought a new muffler and my guy welded my Cobb tip back onto the new muffler. It actually sounded slightly better than when I had the Cobb muffler, too.

I'd say another option though is to just have the tips ceramic coated. It would make the tips more resistant to build-up. If I had to guess though, the pricing of either job would be pretty similar.

Yup, maybe to weld the cyba tips on will be a better option for me then.

I mean, if they're working for you on your other car, I see this as being a sensible option. The cost of tips + labor probably isn't too catastrophic. My shop I go to here would likely charge $40 to $60 for that type of quick job.

I'm with most of the majority of buying the proper system to sound the way you want it.

Looks better, feels better, sounds better. Possibly would be a little bit more work to keep them clean but it's worth it.
