Hey guys so about a month ago I was filling up the gas tank but this time when I went to remove the nozzle it was stuck. So I went into the gas station and asked if anyone had a tool or an easy way to get it out. So a guy comes out and helps me but for some reason he just rips the damn thing out. On the way home a light came with a blinkng gas station thing. Im pretty sure it normally means your gas cap is open and it wasnt so for the most part i ignored it and moved on. But now a month later im omw home fr school when my check engine light comes on. I code scanned it and it said something about a sensor. Does anyone know which part i should replace?

Yeah the gas cap has some kind of magnet in it. If it's broken you can get another one for 40$. You must replace that. If the light doesn't go away than maybe take a look at your evap valve. My car is doing that now just don't have the time to get the evap valve. It will run hesistant sometimes if it's evap btw. That should have you all good to go. Good luck lmk how it works.

Besides the magnet in the gas cap, there is an associated reed switch in the filler pipe. When the gas cap is present, installed, the magnet pulls the reed switch contacts apart, turning the warning light OFF. If the reed switch was damaged, then it is not the cap that is faulty.

Wait so would that just be the magnet or a new gas cap?
