JHM Timing Service Kit Question from New S4 Owner

Hi all - I just picked up a B7 2006 S4, well maintained with 80k on the odo. I plan to do a preventative timing chain service in the next 5k or so and have been researching various options including the OEM part refresh service (both sides) and have heard the JHM kits are good as well.

I'm not clear on how far to go. The kits and parts start at $1k for the basic and go all the way to $4k. I am thinking about doing the core guide tensioner service but wanted some recommendations on which kit to purchase. My local trusted Indy shop quoted 3000-3500 for the core OEM service whereas Dynarev (JHM dealer Chicago) said 6000-8000. Advice is greatly appreciated.

I would recommend using the intermediate kit: https://jhmotorsports.com/shop/catal...te-p-2312.html

It covers all of the major components that fail!

Guides (one guide I ordered as an RS4), chain (worldpac), tensioners(worldpac), and both sprockets (JHM) is what I replaced on my vehicle. Did the clutch at the same time as well as all the fluids in the front and rear and drive belt. Its a huge job and since many parts are off already might as well get em done :D

Thanks - so intermediate kit? Also, why are the JHM parts better - I'm assuming they're not OEM?

Better metallurgy to fight against the wear that the pin does to the adjuster.

The only JHM specific part is the mechanical adjusters. All the rest are OEM parts. They do also use 1 guide from an RS4 since it's the only one compatible to the S4 and is metal instead of all nylon like the rest of the S4 guides
