:: ECS Tuning :: NEW!! ECS Carbon Fiber Side Blades

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!

Upgrade your exterior styling with the ECS Carbon Fiber Side Blade Set. These side blades were engineered in-house and designed to completely replace the factory pieces while adding a more sporty appearance to your vehicle, that matches with the factory appeal of the B8/B8.5 S4.

Our inspiration for these came from the earlier B6/B7 S-line door flares where they would flare out more towards the rear edge of each blade. Keeping the same style in mind, we carried those characteristics into the new ECS Carbon Fiber Side Blade Set. A look that will be sure to stand out from the rest and only available at ECS!

These replace your factory side blades entirely. Simply remove your old set and install these with your existing hardware and you're done!

How simple is this process Jason?

When I was plastidipping my side blades I decided to do it on the car because I heard they were difficult to remove.

Process is simple it's just time consuming. The factory blades use adhesive to assist with mounting. This is ultimately the part that many say is "difficult" as it takes time to remove or break down the adhesive enough to peal it away from the rocker panel. Once you take care of the adhesive you slide the whole blade towards the rear of the car (about 1.5in) and then it can be removed. You'll likely need to use goo-gone or an adhesive remover to get the excess adhesive off the rocker panel. A hair dryer works well too to loosen things up. I've also used fishing line if you don't have access to a plastic pry tool.

Pro tip: Try to avoid using any tools or methods that can scratch your paint.

If you take your time you should have no problem.

+1, a good cover would be cheaper and much easier to install.

These are sweet but I should probably get the caractere side skirts to go with my bumper. Can't decide which right now. Where are the carbon paddle shifters for the B8.5!?

OSIR makes carbon caps that go directly over your existing blades but in all honesty they aren't that difficult to remove. Took me about 20min to get them off my car using 3m adhesive remover and a plastic scraper to remove the adhesive

I was going to say the same exact thing. Bunch of whiners. These cars were in the 60's new, bitching about $600 for an aesthetic mod? Enlaes would probably charge $2,000 for these. So how about spend $30 on 3M diNoc adhesive and just wrap your current side blades if you need to have carbon fiber all over your car?

I'm not a buyer for these, as I don't see the point, but will definitely be scooping the diffuser / front lip when it's available

It's really not! Have you ever debadged a car before? It's literally the same concept. You let the adhesive remover do all the work, meaning let it soak in and break down the glue. Once you weaken the glue it comes right off. Slide the whole side blade back and you're done.

I agree with you, however some people must be buying their stuff, because the B8 spoiler is back-ordered until Dec. 12th. I think ECS makes great products, and definitely takes input from consumers prior to making something. You're never going to be able to please everyone, but as long as the majority likes it, they'll make their money back.

Just installed the ECS carbon blades. Removing the stock blades was a But if you take your time it wasn't that bad. Only managed to break just one clip in the process. The new blades look great and overall pretty happy with the look and fitment. Trying to figure out how to upload images to show you guys.

Sorry to bump this, but for those who've removed the stock blades, where are the adhesive points? Does it run the length of the blade? Can I use some floss or fishing line to break the seal?
