Audi A4 B7 Quattro Differential Problem

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 2007 A4 Avant Quattro 6 speed manual and the rear differential needs replacing as it has failed. My main dealer wants £4300 for a new one so I'm going to buy a used one. I see plenty for sale on eBay but I'm not sure how to identify the one fitted to mine without removing it first, I have a number on the bottom of the casing, OAR 525053A but that does not match any that are listed. Are they specific to my exact model or will any similar one fit ?

    Thanks,

    Nick

Why not just buy an LSD from JHM and make it a fun car :)

There should be a sticker in your drivers side doorjamb (or in your service booklet) with the engine code, tranny code, and diff code.

It makes a "clunking" noise when I pull away in 1st gear, my independant garage has diagnosed it.

Mine hasn't got one, it must have been removed at some point.

Update I now know the engine code BFB, the gearbox code GJW, and the diff code HNQ . Is this all I need when trying to find a used replacement, what are the important ones ? Mine is a 1.8t Quattro 6 speed manual, will a differential from another model fit ?

    Thanks,

    Nick

Should be the same diff for 1.8/2.0 but I'm not sure about the v6 models.

    V6? He said it was a 1.8

    Maybe you mean 6 speed?

Also I'm not sure whether it's the same or not , try the 1.8 forums? This is the 2.0 (also know as b6/b7 generations)

Right but he's looking for a used diff, I'm quite sure the 4cyl ones are interchangeable but if he happens upon a 3.0/3.2 rear diff I'm not sure whether it'll swap in
