2008 Audi A6 Quattro

Hello All:

Just picked up a nice 2008 Audi A6 Quattro with 67,000 miles. I am in the process of removing the front number plate and replacing with the plastic trim, fixing the faded rear dash/deck etc. Anything else? :-) I do want to fix a back-up camera and I have read the write-up on the topic - looks pretty complicated.

The last service/oil change was done at 60,000 miles back in Oct 2015. What maintenance services would you suggest?

Welcome to the club, I'd definitely start with an oil change, the book says every 10k but I don't go over 5k. Routine maintenance at that low miles I don't think much is required yet. As to the back up camera, if you want OEM functionality then ya it's complicated or expensive however I was informed about the option below and might be doing it after I sort out some other projects.

Very interesting.

I wonder what the quality of the video is. I found this for $85 that has front/rear camera. And uses the back up cam as a rear dash cam when not backing up.
Certainly easier than the oem route. And solves a couple things I'm looking for dash cam wise.

Cool, 1 difference I see is that the 1 you found looks like it uses the 12v, the other 1 i believe is hard wired so it leaves the 12v open. But either way easier than oem, I'll wait till I get my bumper repaired or replaced and finish the headlights before I go diving into this though.

How does it detect that the car is in reverse? If it needs a reverse light tap do you know where to find that in the 6.5?
