    Question Instrument Cluster on-bench wiring

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Could use some help with my spare cluster wiring.
Bought one to play around with and am trying to connect it for some tests but am stuck at, its not fully booting up.
I understand it can go deeper into software / datas than just connecting wires.

Basically what I tried was to hook +&- to external power source (of course 12v)
and i hear it buzzes for a second. When i then hit the Check button, clock and odo displays lit up.
But no "living" indications appear behind physical displays (rpm, spdo, temp, fuel) nor DIS.

Has anyone any idea of what needs to be connected in order to get at least safe boot-up?
Documentation is like sex, if it's good, it's REALLY good but if it's bad, still better than nothing.

I'm just guessing, but doesn't the cluster need to detect info from the ecu to boot up?

I too guess, it should boot up but into safe mode due failing immo verification.

I'd hope to get it fully booted if/when immo is disabled. But that's maybe not possible without messing in firmware.

You need power to the cluster, of course, and an interface to communicate to the cluster such as kkl? Check the pinouts.

    Blue connector:

    Pin:
    1 - terminal 15 positive (12 volts)
    23 - terminal 30, positive (12 volts)
    24 - terminal 31, earth (ground)
    25 - self diagnosis/K-wire (K-line)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    OBD connector:

    Pin:
    4+5 - Ground
    7 - K-line
    16 - 12 volts

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

    Aditional:

    Blue connector:

    Pin:
    22 - ground (coolant temp)

    Green connector:

    Pin:
    6-washer fluid (ground)
    7-brake pad sensor (ground)

    23 ,24 ,25 - ground for MFA

Although my level of knowledge would just infect forums there if posting questions like where why and how
