Mops '17 S3 Build/Photo Thread

Hi guys. Picking up the S3 for Mopette in a few weeks. Nothing much to report yet. Glacier, BO, Magma, carbon exterior. Plans...

ASAP
-Drop.... looking at springs only for now. Postive rake
-Spacers... Unsure what the OEMs need
-CAI... Thinking AWE
-Ecode front lamps... Pricing is looking super high :/
-35% carbon Suntek
-Suntek PPF (bumper cover and skirts)

Spring
-AWE pipes... Track I think
-BBS/Rays wheels... Will likely start with 19" CH-R

Nothing crazy for her car. Suggestions are welcome!

ED Springs on Mag Ride, unless you want to go with a Height Adjustable Spring from Ground Control or MSS Kits.

I went all Neuspeed on mine for the Intake and Discharge pipes, but that 034 Intake is sexy, and they have more carbon engine bits coming up.

034 Dogbone insert and Subframe mounts for sure.

Either the ED RSB + Links or 034 are solid.

They have Height Adjustable springs and camber plates for our MQB cars. A couple of the R guys are running them, but last I heard they had not test fit on an S3.

Yep. We like our hatches, but the S3 won this time :) I'm not an APR supporter, and I'm a huge AWE supporter. 034 as well. Not too concerned with looks. Looking for something high quality, and I also want some noise.

The ED ones look good, but 20mm does not sound like much. I'll have to look at more pics. Looking at stock, and those pics in link, I feel like I see more than 20mm. I run HAS on the SQ, and really like them, so a HAS style might be best for me.

Yeah so far so good. The car tax is a bit annoying, but the move in general was good. I might be on the move again. Looking like possibly mile high city of all places. Company got bought and Denver is their tech center....

You can take a look at mine when you head up to pick up the S3. I have Ecs spacers 17.5 in the back and 10 in the front which needs a little more I think and I have H&R sport springs.

Having a facelift model, I don't know how plentiful the new e-codes will be on the EU auction sites.

If you want intake noise, you are going to want one of the open element ones. I have the 034 and its certainly louder than stock but definitely not as loud as other intakes I have heard or am used to. There is one 034 intake video floating around where the guy didn't install the back plate to seal off the airbox that had some noise, but I felt that defeated the purpose of insulating the intake from the hot engine bay. The AWE is similar to the 034 design utilizing a closed airbox.

ED is comparable with the H&R sports and some of the other options out there, H&R Super Sports are lower. The issue with the other options is that Mag Ride runs a Linear Spring, ED is the only one making a Linear Spring specific for Mag Ride. It seems like the Progressive Springs ride quality deteriorates over time and can be pretty awful, at least that's been the consensus opinion.

The MSS Kits Adjustable Springs are really popular with the TTRS guys who also have Mag Ride, but they haven't been out long enough for the MQB platform to get feedback yet.

Not sure of any tuning changes with the 2017s, but a Stage 1 ECU and TCU tune really transforms the car.

Too much ED talk! Ok, good to know. I'll try the ED ones for now, and possibly something else next year. I've run VMR on the GTI for two years now, and I'm still very pleased, but no Mag. So none of the S3 guys around here are on the MSS? They look pretty good. Again, I appreciate your time!

Sounds perfect Aaron! And I'm a fan of 034. I move a ton of their stuff. I have the full mount pack, X-brace and rear bar/links on the SQ. Very pleased.

Specs sold us right away! Mopette was not even pro S3. She was set of Gold R with 6MT. Glacier, BO, Magma and carbon look great together. I'm going with ED springs, and since I have, I'll just try 12/15 for now.
