Introduce myself with some quick, easy questions.

Just picked up a 2013 s6. Absolutely love it. Sold the b5 s4 and the 04 a6 2.7t just last month. Still have an 03 rs6 completely built with ~550 whp.

The 4.0t is in a completely different class. So smooth and seemless. I've done my homework and plenty of research but can't find a couple easy answers. Many of the posts I find to answer my questions are outdated and probably just common knowledge to you all by now.

Do all s6's have an air suspension or was it an option? If an option what's the easiest
Way to see what I have? I saw that h&r makes some sort of lowering module? That would be nice.

I smell a coolant odor. Haven't pulled the plastic off the engine yet to look around but maybe a common issue to look for first? I read something about a turbo line leak that may be common?

Will my older vcds read this car? I used it for all my c5 and b5 cars but compared to those there is a huge amount of tech in this c7. No problem buying a newer version if necessary. Vcds is a MUST imo

Tuning- I know this engine has huge potential but I don't want to create other issues. With all the tech I'm wondering how a tune would affect it in terms of different modes etc. with both the 2.7t and 4.2t both had plenty of untapped potential but as some of you may know, tuned them quickly exposed weak links like transmission, heats issues etc.

I will probably opt for a full set of winter wheels and tires but for now, because winter will fast approach, i may not have time and need to buy a set of 20" winter tires.

I have a bunch more questions I'll continue to search for answers but that's my main concerns right now.

All s6 in America came on air, I will sell you my module if you want one I never use it

Coolant lines on the turbos go all the time that is probably it

Get the new version of vag, most do not work with the uds our cars use

Slap some bigger turbos and tune away I had 50k on my s6 with no issues it had 40 on rs7 turbos

Just tried my current vag com tonight. It's version 11.11xx. It read and connected but gave me an error about something not loaded on a few modules. Yep, I'll order a newer version tonight. Does the car need to be running to have the vcds com with the car? I did, but it's different since there is no accessory position like with a "manually keyed" car.

Can you send me any info on that lowering module? I messed with vag com tonight and felt the car lower when I played with adaption. Hopefully I didn't screw anything up. Wife will be pissed :)

I've taken the engine out of every Audi I've owned. Also completely disassembled two parts cars. I don't see any sort of "Bentley" manual for this car. Really like to have a workshop manual.

I'll also look for rs7 turbos tonight :) sounds exciting. I'll do all normal maintenance ASAP; oil, plugs, filters. Are the timing belts an issue as in pretty much every previous Audi engine?

    Thanks for the info.

You might just need a software update for VCDS (vagcom). I'm using a cable I bought in 2005 when I was driving VWs and it works just fine with the latest software.

You can lower the car a few different ways if you have air suspension. First is with VCDS but it is limited to how far you can go. You can also use lowering links (~$100 hardware solution). Or you can run a module such as the H&R lowering module or the Cete Automotive Active Suspension Wifi module. I'd recommend the Cete Automotive module as it's much cheaper, has wifi connectivity so you can configure it from your phone, and allows you to run different heights depending on which drive select mode you are in. The guy that runs the Cete Automotive shop is top notch and super responsive as well. I run this module, and I absolutely love it.

You can get a factory manual here: https://www.factory-manuals.com/audi-a6/s6&27&124

I haven't bought one, but I've heard good things about them.

Thanks you! Plenty more reading to do now. Just read a write up doing the lowering with vcds but the cete module sounds like it may be better/easier. I'm headed there now. Thanks again for the response.

Ok. One last thing. Looking for winter tires. Stock is 255 35 20. If I go to 245-40-20 it's 2.7% larger diameter. Will have issues with this size?

you shouldnt have any issues with that difference, as long as they are all the same size/ tread depth you'll be ok
