good price, considering it is an early HW revision of Gen2, that properly utilizes C5 speed sensor (pin and capability of using vehicle speed sensor was removed sometimes mid-2011)

    V1nny,

Can you explain further? I thought all RNS-Es (1st and 2nd gen) needed to tap the GALA wire for 2002+ C5 allroad.
Wow! I just looked at my yet-to be-installed 2013 2nd gen unit and noticed that the pin labeled V-sensor on my 1st gen unit says N.C. on the 2nd Gen.

Does it mean the GPS will be dodgy? or did they change something?

Without the gala wire tap it's not perfectly fluid but still acceptable, tiny bit of notchiness.

So from what I've been told off-line, it appears without the GALA wire (as the newer units don't use it), the only time this will be really noticeable would be in tunnels and the like.

this.. not only tunnels, with enough speed, may miss some highway exits

    @ Vinny

I have a 2003 AR that seems to have a GPS antenna on the roof. What is the best RNS-E generation for my car? Any feedback would be appreciated, thx!

I am not an expert, but settled myself on second Gen RNS-E, just like the one you looking at in this ad, for my stage3 manual 01 Allroad, that I intent to keep forever. Your roof antenna is helpful, but not a critical factor. Depending on how you planning to use it, or whatever your priorities, it may be not your first choice. I would consider buying this one right here, as it seems to be a fairly good deal, and they are not common with C5 faceplate. I like second gen RNS-e because of OEM looks, bulletproof operating system (QNX, same as blackberry), great screen, accepting large capacity SD cards for mp3 music, good sound quality, real time traffic reports with no subscription charges.
