    Vacuum Pump Oil Leak after Coolant Flange Replaced

    My coolant flange was leaking and so I went ahead with the replacement, however I noticed now that I am getting an oil leak from the vacuum pump area. Since it was not leaking previously, is it likely that I just need to replace the O-ring on the vacuum pump?

    Is there a chance you cracked the plastic hose that connects to it while you were working on the coolant flange? I've heard mixed reviews about changing the o-ring in the pump.

    I don't think so, the hose feels dry, I can only feel oil if I reach around to the bottom of it (along with seeing a small amount of oil on the transmission, which is how I discovered it in the first place).

    Replacing the o-ring is worth a shot (it's cheap), but the consensus seems to be that once it starts leaking, replacing the pump is the only way to fix it.

    Did you remove the vacuum pump to replace the flange? If yes then, change the O-ring. It should work...

    Yes, which is why I am optimistic that changing the O-ring will fix it as there was no leak prior to replacing the coolant flange. I have read that the O-ring is different depending on which version of the vacuum pump you have, I am guessing there is no way to tell which part number the vacuum pump is visually without removing it?
