    3.0 X-Pipe?

Well my resonator is toast. Pretty sure all the junctions at the resonator have rotted, thus causing my car to sound like a big piece of poo. I'm thinking about ditching the resonator and installing an X-pipe in its place to gain a touch of performance. I didnt take measurements when i was under the car yesterday (I was in a rush), but does anyone know of any X-Pipes that are a pretty close direct fit? I'll be paying someone to do this job, but I need to get it fixed. It sounds like shit riding around town.

You guys think a X-pipe for the S4 would be a logical decision? Am I over thinking this and should I just have the shop squeeze in two tube like resonators?

I have a x pipe, I had it custom fitted when I had my exhaust installed. It is much louder I don't mind it, but it could bother you.

Do you think that noise increase was also due to the rest of your exhaust?

I'm not against it getting louder, as long as it sounds good. Then again, I don't want to be riding around acting like a tough guy with just a stock 3.0

    Ha!
You wont be sounding like a tough guy cause its a 3.0... I love mine, it does get raspy when my vacuum actuator doesn't properly change. Mind you I do have downpipes with a HFC. The exhaust note changed a lot when added the downpipes.

    DO IT!

Do you have any videos of your exhaust? I still don't know what I want to do, exhaust-wise...

IIRC MNAudi deleted his resonators but it was too loud so he installed aftermarket tubes, but on 1.8T.

Like mentioned above 3.0s don't sound the best with any exhaust changes but who knows you might like it. If the change is needed why not try for a better sound.

I have to disagree with the 3.0 not sounding good piped. I've heard a 3.0 with DPs and cat back with magnaflow mufflers and it sounded really good. I'm not interested in the mufflers quite yet, but if I do the XPipe I'll likely end up changing the mufflers if I'm not satisfied with the sound. I'm gonna call around and see what someone wants to charge to cut the resonator out and replace it with a x pipe for me

A B5 S4 owner told me his interior was quiet after installing raamat or dynamat, on straight pipes. Obviously people outside the car still hear it.
Point I'm trying to make is what if you can "fine tune" it or tone it down a little that way.

Jorge, our resonated X pipes are a popular replacement for the factory resonator. They give all the benefits of a traditional X, but with much less rasp and not quite as loud. We offer them in a handful of sizes, starting as small as 4x9x14". If you'd like some additional info, shoot us a PM!
