Question Anyone done a DIY MAF hose?

Im going to get an 85mm MAF but i really would rather not buy the 75 dollar 034 one. I feel like there is gotta be a way to make your own with some silicon hosing from amazon/ebay. Like a 3.5 to 3.5 with a 45 degree elbow in it. also who runs a coupler from maf to airbox?

Im sure you can get a 45 degree coupler and trim it a bit. Summit Racing is great for this sort of thing. Not sure if it will be much cheaper though. Maybe sub $50 + time to modify it assuming it works at all.

do yourself a favor and spend the money on an engineered maf housing nd intake pipe...the only modifying I did was mating my maf housing into my airbox, chiseled away at the ribs on the inside so my maf housing would slide all the way in till it butted up against the inside of the airbox, the hose after the maf housing just get the 034...its easier that way. the money you save vs the headache you may create later for trying to tune is not worth it...

Ok guys randomly was thinking and the idea popped into my head, what about just some 3.5 inch exhaust tubing having it bent to the same angle as the accordion hose and then using silicone couplers on the connections. Would be a cheap solution and would not have to worry about the chance of collapsing under pressure. Just a thought. let me know what you think!

Use aluminum then. Won't heat soak so much.

Also keep in mind those things can suck flat, depends on how restrictive the intake is.
Buddy said he watched his rs4 accordion suck down on the dyno. Stock airbox 605s at the time.
I imagine you want to pay even more attention to the softer silicone ones.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.
