    STE PPD Connect Software?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, since the STE site disappeared, I'm trying to track down a link for the connect software. I installed a unit today in my B5 and am left staring at a black upper cluster display. I came across a mention of a gentleman named Don during my search, but not sure how to get in touch. Any info would be appreciated!

    You sure it even works?
They have a history of failure, mine lasted like 2 weeks before it died. I got lucky and was able to fix it myself with a soldering iron.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

Nope, not sure it works unfortunately. I picked it up from a forum member for a pretty hefty price tag, considering it didn't come with software. If I have to open it to fix a shoddy solder job it's not the end of the world I guess. As for the link, I very much appreciate it, but can't open the program. As soon as I open it I get a warning "PPD Connect has stopped working" before the program even opens. Tried on 2 computers. Could you please verify that the linked program is still good? Maybe just an issue with my systems.

    Regards,

    Bill

Did you recode the cluster? It won't work if you don't.

Also make sure you DO NOT HAVE YOUR KEY IN IGNITION when trying to connect to PPD. It will not work if key is in ignition

Donsupreme cut support on the product and bailed. I wouldn't seek him out, as I doubt you'll get any help, unfortunately.

FWIW mine has been in and running flawlessly for 3 years now.

Use this as a how-to guide in order to get it running

Just curious - when those have failed what were you soldering to get it working again? I LOVE mine, I miss the look of gauges sometimes but I feel like I can't lose that functionality that I have now of being able to recall the information when I want it.

I've recoded the cluster, but I still get a black screen with the unit connected. Maybe time to open it up and check for broken joints. I've followed the install page for the unit at justplainbored but nothing so far.

Thank you very much for the download link, but I can't get the program to open in any version of Windows. Does anyone have any other sources for the program download?

    Regards,

    Bill
