RS style grill with an OEM twist

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I work at a salvage yard we got a B8 A4 in at work with an aftermarket RS style grill. This is something that we would probably end up throwing away so I picked it up for super cheap. I'm not real crazy about how tall an open these style grills are but I had to get it.

I had an idea to add in the filler section from an oem grill into it. So I bought a broken OE A4 grill and made a hybrid love child from the two. I still need to do some painting but here's what I have so far.

I'm also not much of a fan of how uninterrupted the RS grill is, this looks promising, can't wait to see it on the car.

I didn't think I'd like it when I realized the direction you were going with the center section, but I actually do. As the others have said, nicely done!

Finally got the grill all buttoned up. I had to get an A4 filler plate and some new Audi rings to complete the project. Very pleased with the results.

I agree I couldn't stand the look of the RS grill without something breaking up all that mesh. I trimmed the filler plate and left studs to attach it.

Most recently I moved the filler plate inside of the grill as a cover on the crash bar and the effect is kind of cool.

I think yours looks really good!!!

It should flow the same since the filler just covers the crash bar area.

I kind of made something similar. I needed to mount my front plate but I didn't want to make it permanent. I grabbed the front plate adapter from the OEM grill and trimmed enough that it looks like it is part of the RS grill. Got some good matching paint...done.
