    Oil check valves question

    I have always wondered this:
My car has 128k miles. I did my timing job at 112k. I did not do the oil check valves.

How do you know they are failing? Is it just a preventive thing while the motor is out?

the usual symptoms for failing oil checkvalves would be a hot start rattle (engine turned off for 10-30 mins)

Not a motor out job. Service position to make access in front of the manifold easier.
Frequent start up rattle is a good prompt to replace these valves.

    ^^^ Great write up

I haven't heard a rattle in 16k miles since my timing job. (cold or hot). So the oil check valves are ok.

If you order the oil check valve kit from ECS tuning it includes a detailed write up. While you're in there, it's a good idea to install intake spacers too!
