Clicking noises go up slightly inclined driveways..SOLVED BY DEALER

A while ago I posted about clicking noise turning in to driveway, noise coming from drives side under hood. Brought car into dealer for ECM UPDATE , AND the noise problem. Fortunetly there is a similar drive way turning into dealership. THEY HEARD IT, each time they drove car Turning into. Drive way( no famous can not replicate ) . SA even commented , at least we hear it . I went on a test drive with the Senior Tech, he thought it had something to do with uneven load of suspension. Tried bunch of things to duplicate in service bay. Suspension components where tightened. He spent hours. Finally assistant shop foreman drove car. Then he drove it with hood. UNLATCHED Noise was gone! They readjusted hood and put felt tape on the four bumper locations on hood. sound is gone. They did this on a Saturday despite not a day for extended projects . Hoffman audi east hartford ,ct tech was AJ, FORGOT assistant shop formans name now. I today dealership GM & SA how pleased I was.

The tech loved my car,and the grey & black seats. He thought car was amazing, a real sleeper, maybe that is why he was so dedicated.He probably will not get paid for all the time he spent, but was just as glad as I was that they could fix it.

ECM update was also done. No ill effects noticed, but it is still early to notice. Tried to update original thread, but I could not find it.a

now there is a new noise , clicking noise from back of car when staring from stop, it is intermittent. Front noises where solved by adjusting hood and putting felt tape on ends on the hood adjustment bumpers. It hear on click from rear now , intermittent. Any ideas. Car going to dealer, but afraid I will get" can not replicate"

Interesting, I have the same noise happening under the same circumstances, took it in to do the recall update and had them investigate the noise while it was in. They couldn't reproduce it, but I hear it every day. I'll have to check out my hood, thanks!

I have the exact same noise and have driven up the incline to my garage with the hood unlatched before and it alleviates the noise. Glad I'm not the only one, will have them look at it next time I'm in. Thanks.

They adjusted good bumpers and put felt tape on them

Well I am glad to know I was not the only one. Now if they can find noise from rear.

I'm having this clicking now when I go up the driveway. Could you take pics of where the felt tape was placed?

a piece of felt tape was placed on the tips of the four plastic bumpers that are attached to the hood/ I have no camera capability . You should see them easily

I have the same exact issue, fixed with the same way, now i have the same issue in the rear. can you provide more details on "the actuation of the electronic motor mounts"?

Had the same noise, fixed the same way by local audi dealer. This really made me question the build quality of audis..My old subaru never had such issue.

At exactly 7mph starting from stop, a relay or solinoid clicks activating the electronic engine mounts. I hear a single click from rear of car. Dealer tracked down the noise after hearing it on test drive. Put car on lift and at exactly 7 mph a single click was heard . On the road I hear that single click on start up from stop. But not on every time car stops and goes. Dealer duplicated the noise with an other S4,that was in for repair. Dealer considered it normal. Another owner of a 2015,s4' had same experience. Very faint click, but I have to get used to it. Nothing that will damage car. I asked service manager to contact audi technical rep. If enough of us hear the noise maybe audi will do something about it.the noise a single click leads me to believe it is a relay or module in the fuse/ relay section in the right rear quarter panel behind the little cargo net I doubt my dealer Service manager will really do anything more, but I will call audi directly if I do not hear from him. I think it is a relay/ module that needs better sound isolation.

that is probably why this comes up so infrequently,as most poster here have exhausts that mask any minute noise.

Thanks to the OP for posting this, this resolved my front end noise I assumed was suspension clunk. Even with exhaust it was very noticeable when pulling onto uneven surfaces at slow speeds.

This describes it for me. I have not, and I do not plan to have Audi look into this. With music on I rarely hear it.

There are all sorts of noises in this car. You can hear the shift interlock solenoid if you turn off the music, put your car in park, and then just tap the brake. Listen towards the center console shifter. You can feel it in your hand as well.
