Hey all, I've came across a 2011 s4 with 40,000 miles. 6speed, stage 2 Apr, upgraded interior package, upgraded rear differential, clean inside and out for $31,000. Thoughts on buying?

He's most likely referring to the sport diff if I was to guess.

Honestly seems high. I saw 2013s for cheaper when I tried to find an S4.

Buy it. I challenge any of the "too expensive" crowd to find a comparable car for less.

Price is definitely high. I bought my 2011 back in January of 2015 for $29,500 and it had just under 34k miles. Came with sports diff, B&O, navigation, and black optics package.

After installing APR stg II, you'd both be out the door for over $31k. Plus it's REALLY hard to find this car with the sport diff and 6MT.

Challenge accepted. I did four months ago and for $5k less. My 2011 had 52k miles on it, for comparison.

I just bought a 2011 S4 6 speed manual with APR Stage 2 for $27.5k from private party. It has 48k miles.

It's premium plus, navi, B&O, carbon inlays. I am having a little bit of a buyers remorse because I feel that I did pay a few grand extra for the color (Sprint Blue). I also unexpectedly spent about $1000 sorting the car out (troubleshooting a CEL that came on, exhaust work, rattles and so on - I need it to be perfect) and also bought a new set of winter tires - Blizzak WS80.

The car came with a lot of goodies (APR stage 2, STaSIS axel back exhaust, short shifter, alu kreuz, RS4 grille).
    I added eurocode sway bars.

He advertised it as high as $38k but dropped the price to $30k over 2 months. I wanted to pay $26 but ended up at $27.5k.

Hope this gives you some grounding on the value - it's worth what you are willing to pay.

Bought my 2012 S4 for $$27,500 with 45 k and did a unitronic Stage II+, Injen Intake and Revmotoring Lowering Springs. Wow!!!! Waiting on Unitronic to get me inline for TCU Tune then I am done until next summer. I will do an Inter Cooler upgrade to use the more aggressive Stage II + upgrade then I will quit. Price so far brought me up to about $29.5.

You know when you find the car you want to buy...if this is it, offer him the max of what you're willing to pay for it and see what happens. Check values using online values guides. Carmax actually has fairly accurate retail values.

I have been thinking about selling my single owner, never tracked or raced 2011 S4 since I never drive it much anymore after moving to Arizona 3 years ago. Looks like the KBB private party sale price is around $28K. The car has been garaged the majority of the time, no snow, all routine maintenance performed according to schedule, Motul Oil every 5K, recent DSG service. Here are the particulars: Premium Plus, DSG, Phantom Black, Titanium Pkg, B&O, Carbon Inlay, Silk Nappa.

Wondering how much the mods might be worth. These include: APR Stage 2, KW V3s, Eurocode Alu Kreuz, drop links, front and rear sways, SPC UCAs, Flowform FF01, Milltek Resonated, Eurocode headers, LI jammer, mirror mounted Passport Max. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

With the car? $0. Taken off before your sale? At least 50% of the retail.

If I took off the parts they would just sit in my storage shed and take up space and I would never get around to selling them. Probably only take off the easy stuff, wheels and electronics. The headers will cost me about $1K to take off and at best I could probably break even after hassling with a bunch of lunatics on craigslist.

I guess the only real advantage then is that when someone drives my car and compares it to a stock S4 they will be blown away by the huge difference in handling. Lowering the car and the suspension mods transforms the car in the way that I can't understand why anybody would put up with the stock suspension after spending that much money on a car that has so much more potential.

I completely agree, I ran into the same issues with my 370z when I took all my aftermarket stuff off. I'd rather buy a car like yours than a stock one, but you just can't expect a premium price unfortunately. With the right buyer maybe, but that's a 1% chance.

You could probably get a few thousand over current market value for all of the aftermarket parts on the car if you found the right buyer.

RickyBobby - Go to cars.com and do a national search. It's my favorite for looking for cars.

PCH - love your set up. Handling is set up is close to what I have and I love the difference. I am still not 100% satisfied but I am very picky (need more steering feel and I prefer a slightly heavier steering).
I foolishly had the old owner remove KW V3s to get a slightly better deal - I thought the S4 had active suspension, which it didn't. Wish I kept the KWs.

Only thing I don't have is SPC UCA. Did it provide a huge benefit in handling and in which way?

I thought I was going to sell because I don't drive it much anymore now. When I lived in LA I could really utilize it on the freeways. So many fun curved elevated long ramps and 100 MPH is no biggie on the freeways. When I think about actually selling it I just can't seem to take any action in that direction. I wonder why? The best part is that it only has 37K miles. When I do sell, somebody is going to be very happy.

Thank you. A lot of thought went into it.

I spent quite a bit of time hanging out at EuroCode talking with David. He does a lot of track testing (some with professional drivers) on parts he developed and tweaking setups. Basically, because the car has such heavy understeer it needs to be setup in a very specific way. First off the UCAs will give the camber you need after lowering: 2.5/2.0 F/R. The sway bars should be set up loose front, tight rear. The V3s should be setup with + bump front and mid setting in the back. Rebound will depend, but I have both front and rear set to the mid range. What this does is make the back have less grip than the front to overcome the tendency for the front to push. The Alu Kreuz also makes a difference. Wider tires will make a difference. I added parts one at a time, starting with the tune, so I could feel the change. A properly tuned up S4 suspension bears little resemblance to the stock setup, including the sport diff. There is a price however, bumpy roads, are well, hold on to your teeth. The very few times I have driven a stock suspension I am always more surprised than I thought I would be.

No reputable lender cares about what "mods" have been done to a car to "increase" value - it just does not work that way...only way a seller could get back any return on investment is part out sales or any/all upgrades. So if this person is selling as a private sale - too high as they are trying to re-coupe investment of whatever aftermarket item(s)

You can say as a trade in the dealer may give him 24/25k (probable more like 21k) high retail is 31k (why - if a dealer took it in they will replace tires (2k) replace mods to put car back to OEM as much as possible another 1/3k there - change fluids - and CPO 'if' they can tac on another 1/2k there - if the car is TD1 - they cant CPO... if they are a reputable dealer they will state such and adjust price accordingly)

Bottom line - too high a price on a used car w/no or as is warranty - keep looking (no amount of mods will off-set future repairs / and replacement of consumables on a vehicle like tires/parts/fluids...and will cost you more out of pocket if out of warranty - no extended warranty - and no Audi N America CPO)

If i were you I would also use True car and see what others are paying - pull from different zip codes - prices vary as say does a person in FL need AWD as much as a person in the NE?
No - but prices vary due to requirement/buyer need for that option bases on region....negotiation my friend - and do your homework - so you can compare/contrast and negotiate the best possible deal for you and save some $$$ - and avoid costly repairs and required/scheduled interval maintenance that you need to budget for anyway.... ;)

Thank you that's incredibly helpful. All valid points. I was looking at a few with higher miles out of warranty but I'm realizing getting one with a warranty or CPO is probably best. Although, I did come across a 2010 6mt at 118k, super clean that has already had the thermostat replaced, clutch at 105k, almost new tires and brakes, St/kw coilovers, stage 2 Apr w/pulley for $21,500. Seems like it's just the right amount of broken in to me.
