Power steering rack same as A4

I have a B6 S4 with a leaking rack. I was looking to purchase a rack from a company that says it will fit my S4 from a A4 B6.

Are they the same? Just wanted to make sure before I pulled the trigger.

No they are not. I think technically it would work but I'm not sure if it would cause any long term issues. From what I've heard the S4 rack has a tighter turning radius. I actually put in an A4 rack before and it looks different. It still bolts in and everything though, I did drive a few hundred miles with it actually before some (I think unrelated) issues came up..

But yeah I they are different part numbers. I got my (final) replacement rack from FCP Euro, was like $750 after core return.. lifetime warranty and it was in great shape. I changed my rack twice in the span of a week earlier this year so if you run into any issue shoot me a PM and I can try and help. The PN stamped on my rack from my 2005 S4 Sedan (build date 11/2004, last 6 of VIN is 107640) is: 8E1422105B

I thought the only difference was S4's came with servotronic, and most all A4's did not.

I also just put in a new steering rack (however it was in my A4) and yes, it's quite a fucking job to do
