7 or 8 might be reserved for the auto parallel parking. Oh wait that not an option lol. Seems crazy it's not with all the other auto drive functions this car is capable of.

You can look up a manual on myaudi.com. Just put in a random A4 vin number to pull one up.

ive updated the initial table. Just 5, 7 and 8 to go (weve had a guess for 7 and 8 but nothing definitive)

I tried the myAudi route - there's no manuals available in the UK site where I have an account. COuldnt work out how to access US site. So thanks for the tip but didnt work for me

5 is for European models that have the car parallel park for you, well the car does the steering wheel part you still have to shift and use the brake and gas. USA donesn't have that feature.

7 & 8 are blank, nothing in European models either.
1 & 10 are if you have ventilated seats.

E791 operating unit 1 for driver and convenience functions, base part number 8W0 925 301, buttons left to right by PR codes are:
    1/2 - 2H0 = no button // 2H1 or 2H9 = E735 driving mode selection button
    3 - 7L7 = no button // 7L8 = E693 start/stop operation button
    4 - all = E256 TCS/ESP button
    5 - 7X0, 7X1, 7X2 = no button // 7X5 = E581 park assist steering button
    6 - 7X0, 7X1 = no button // 7X2, 7X5 = E266 parking aid button
    7 - all = no button
    8 - K8B (sedan), K8D (avant) = no button // K8X (allroad) = E618 hill descent control button
    9 - all = E462 open/close front display button

I don't understand why the 7X1 (rear parking aid) doesn't get the parking aid button but 7X2 (front and rear parking aid) and 7X5 (front and rear parking aid with park steer assist) gets the parking aid button. Maybe the catalog is just documented wrong.

Another note, it seems like the unused slot was to be for the power rear window shade on the sedan?
    B9 E791 sedan.jpg
So what happened to that? Did it go somewhere else? Did Audi simply drop the power rear window shade for B9?

Ugh. Wish I had the option to deactivate this setting. As a 6sp owner, the brakes hold a little too long for my clutch style so I need to really give it gas sometimes to get the brake to release. I've learned that if I just let off the brake before Im ready to go, the car will eventually roll backward a little bit, then I resume my normal take off.

Do you know if it is possible to use those blank buttons, like 7 and 8, as aux switches? I was trying to wire my exhaust cutoff to one of them, but have not been able to find out how to do it or any other information!

I don't think the blanks actuate. The unit is LIN bus connected. They are not individually wired controls.

gotcha, so theres no way to have a direct approach, but if i were to wire these switches separately to a fuse and ground, would it be possible to have the switches function? or would I need to keep trying to find a third-party accessory that has these switches already there? I have seen a few of these from European models or from an S5 that had the self-parking feature; could I take that instead and rewire the switch that controls the self park? (my car does not have this feature.)

Not sure what you're expecting. https://www.ebay.com/itm/185685965059 You see there's only three pins, power, ground, LIN. And I cannot confirm if the unlabeled positions actually function as a button, can it actually be depressed.
