    Just broken down. What do you guys think it could be?

    Hey all,
    Car has just broken down on the side of the road. Engine was misfiring and very jittery all of a sudden, CEL was flashing. Tow truck has just been sent out.

    My first guess would possibly be a bad spark plug. What do you guys think?

    I would recommend you buy 4 of the r8 red tops from amazon for 90 bucks. Can't beat the price or the quality.

    Good idea. I did this as preventative maintenance on my 2012.

    The PCV diaphragm tearing will also cause the engine to feel like it is misfiring and will generate a CEL, but it also usually results in the "Oil Pressure is too low, please shut down engine" warning.

    Well these are a upgrade. id swap em and throw in new plugs as well as soon as you get em. Just read some of the reviews on there, lol.

    The regular oems should last for the life of 2 sets of spark plugs. The performance will degrade however after that. My regular oems were still good before i switched to these' so i saved em and put them in genuine VAG boxes that these come in. The 4 regular oems i pulled were at about 20k of usage.

    Just be careful when releasing the harness from the head of the coil....now that its getting colder that plastic becomes very flimsy and is easily broken if youre not careful. I would change em when the motor is still warm so you dont pop a clip by mistake.

    Hey guys. Just an update from the garage. One of the coils had gone. He wants to charge me NZ $450 for a diagnostic scan and new coil oh well, guess it is a saturday after all.

    $450?!?! I need to open up an ignition coil shop in NZ!

    "Diagnostics" for an ignition coil is such a load of shit its incredible.

    OP already determine it was not a coil pack (another thread) but only after ordering and replacing changed nothing. For anyone else trouble shooting and coming across this thread, can I recommend just swapping your "bad" coil to another cylinder and seeing if the misfire moves too, if not it's not the coil and you saved yourself some frustration and money by not following the "diagnosis" of someone on the other side of the world saying "sounds like a coilpack".

    My personal agenda for a misfire: swap the coilpack, did the misfire move? No, check the plugs, what do they look like? If they are ok then I start checking the coil pack wiring harness to the suspect cylinder and so on.
