Unitronic DSG tune is HERE!

Just purchased the tune and it will show up in the Uniconnect+ connection in 24 hours. They said they were really busy with sales but because I have the tune from home everything went smooth. I will report back as soon as I update the TCU and let everyone no how it feels. I plan to hit the track Oct 28th and this is perfect timing for BOOST SEASON!!!

Btw why did you choose unitronic versus the others?

I've been running the tune for a few weeks now. I feel it's a must have if your running stage 2. It smooths everything out and feels like it handles the extra power much better.

Simple, with Unitronic I tune from home. I have been on this tune for two years and it is flawless. I need to go to the dealer, I go to the stock file. I had a full pressure sensor go out and I flashed back to stock and it was fixed the same day, done. Other tunes have to go to tuner and pay 50 bucks to flash back and then sometimes another 50 to go back to the stage tune you have, not to mention the time factor.

So to purchase the tune you just called Unitronic directly and they will sell it to you over the phone if you already have a tune and the Uniconnect Cable?

That's what I did. Already had the cable and ECU tune. Only problem is that it will take 24-48hrs. They also mentioned that some TCU's may not be compatible with their current flash. If this happens, Unitronic will take a copy of your TCU image file and make a custom TCU image for your car which could take up to a week or so. Hoping mine is compatible but I'll see within the next few days.

Well this morning the file is not there yet (like kid on Christmas morning). I did however notice that they have several new ECU files listed that they didn't have last time I visited. They even have files that include E20.

Could have been dealer error (034Motorsport) but I had a bad experience with a Unitronic TCU tune on my old R32. Took several flashes before it "took" and was finally living up to the marketing copy. Main things I was interested in were eliminating automatic kick-downs and up-shifts in M mode. First time got neither. Second one still had auto up-shifts at redline. Third flash finally got both. Can't say that I noticed a difference in shift speed after the tune, but this was on the old 6-speed DSG.

Well, it's been 48 hours and still no code for the TCU tune bummer. I hope they update the file soon.

I flashed back to the stage 2+ for now but hopefully tomorrow I will have the TCU and ECU that goes with it installed and will let you know the butt Dyno response and October 28th I'll share my track times.

Ok update.
I called and at the same time they sent an email saying more info needed about the transmission. gave them the info and they are adding it to their codes. This is a few more days but I feel good about this for the reason they are not just spitting out a one size fits all product.

Yep that was the first mod a bought. I have a Q5 as well and changing oil myself has paid for it.

Tried this this Weekend and what a blast!!! Car had way more power. Back to 93 Octane as of this evening.

Unitronic was first marketing wise .. I was going with them too. Then i saw a thread about EPL that they already had it and Unitronic was "coming soon". I ended up going with EPL because it was already available, but Unitronic wanted me to get the tune for something that was coming soon, glad i saw the EPL thread

BTW not saying EPL is better than Unitronic .. i think they are both great options for flash from home.. i just choose EPL because it was available and i didn't have to wait

I choose Unitronic because it has been tuning for as long as most VAG people can remember and the fact that two years ago I was not going to go the route of having a shop do he tune every time I needed services. I'm pleased with the tune and the DSG feels good now. I felt that I owed it to myself to get the TCU tune and see if it's as smooth as the testers say it is, but the 2+ tune is buttery smooth already. I have mixed feelings about the wait period for this but the thing I'm sure of is when tunes/releases come out they are alway on the money.

I guess I'm not quite understanding how unitronic tunes work. I thought you just purchased the tune, and you flash it to your car and that was it?

It looks like you had to log your car with VAGCOM and then send them the files to do a custom tune for you? I have a 2014 S5 and considering doing the tunes and wantedto gather as much detail as i could on both uni and epl. Tuning from home is definitely something I'm looking for but I'm unsure how uni and epl differs

Essentially both EPL and Uni offer Off-The-Shelf tunes that will work for your car.

Those wanting more performance out of their tune opt to send logs to the tuners to have the tune customized based off their driving conditions and car.

This is by no means a requirement.
