Unhappy Urgent help needed with Brake issue

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Had may brakes changed complete job new rotors and discs even did all 4 wheel bearings at the same time
Now when i brake at low or high speeds feels like ABS is engaging, mind you the car does stop but feels like its taking a while to stop and there is a vibration in the pedal (not good feeling)
its not yet winter and i dont know what to do
dumb shop i got the work done at had my car for 2 weeks and cant tell me what the issue is

I took it on myself to change the speed sensor on the right front, issue didn't go away
i am going to change the left front on the weekend but i doubt that's it as i had a friend do a scan and it didn't throw any codes

The funny thing is the issue goes away when the speed sensor is disconnected (brakes fine with no issue) but throws the ABS Warning light
We cleared the ABS Warning light and reconnected my right speed sensor and i drove one day without any warning but with the issue of ABS feeling everytime i brake
since that day 6 days ago it randomly throws the ABS light but then it goes away after 4 or 5 minutes of driving all the while i still feel the same wierd feeling in the brake pedal.

i am going to try install the new left front speed senor and verify all 4 sensors are properly seated and cleaned on the weekend before taking it back to get it scanned again by my friend on sunday

If anyone here has any idea or has seen this issue before i would appreciate any input

Sorry if this is long and drawn out but i have no confidence in my brake pedal and need this issue fixed (WINTER IS COMING)

Must be a way to see the wheel speed sensor's reported speed, with vag com. Drive in a straight line, and the outlier is the problem?

Just a guess, I haven't had abs trouble these newer cars. Maybe the system would notice that on its own and have a fit, and it isn't the problem... Heh

Alternately maybe a tone ring is missing or damaged, since they did the wheel bearings...

I have seen that before at my friends shop. One of ur abs sensor is too far away from the pick up wheel. Gain access to each of ur sensors and check the rubber boot to make sure it's not damage. If the rubber boots are good make sure the sensors move freely then push the sensors in the boot will push the sensor back to create the proper spacing. See if that helps. If not one or more sensor got damaged. It's most likely a front sensor.

My s4 did this when I bought it I thought it was a brake problem. I found 3 missing and the other three driveline bolts about ready to fall out. The vibration abs like vibration was coming from the car thinking front or rear slipping due to the slack in the driveline. Locktited 3 new bolts and the 3 old bolts. Problem solved .

Thank you everyone @bwizard i checked and i have a similar issue to what you saw on the right side my cv joint isnt snug to the transmission(see video link)
So there is no issue with the speed/abs sensors. Issue is with retarded garage mechanics who did a complete brake/wheelbearing suspension job and dint see this

Another 300$ in parts coming right up s my left side cv joint boot is sliced open and has no grease in it(which i also noticed they had missed when i got the car back), so ill just change both sides and make a day of it

So it was slack in the Cv axle then that will do it as well

Reason it was braking fine with it disconnected it could not sense the slack . Many techs don't know how the esp/torsen traction control works.

I have loctite.....and yes...but this garage they are supposedly "AUDI SPECIAISTS" (can u tell I'm disappointed in them)....buying parts and tolls will cost me less than going back to a garage to correct this 😁

Easier to replace while your already there than to do it next month when it starts leaking and it's freezing cold out.

I wouldn't bother really, unless you got them on hand maybe. 6 bolts to change it when it fails in the future, no big deal

axles go out more often (boots, anyway). unless its wet.

Now if it was the input seal, or something where there's hours of work to get at it, then yeah, change away!

I think I like the idea of changing them while I'm in there...after all everything else is new...suspension wheel bearings brakes..
