Post your pics of S4's sitting on 18's

    Is anyone riding on 18's?

    Image searches don't yield a whole lot of B8 S4's on 18's.

I'm due for new tires and am seriously considering dropping down to 18's from the peelers but would like to be sure that I won't regret it after looking at my car on the peelers for a year and a half...

I'm not a huge fan of huge wheels with super low profile tires and much prefer the beefy track ready look, not to mention I would love to reap the all around performance benefits of lighter wheels.

Anyone have some good pics for me?

    Thanks!

I'm running 255/40-18s on 18x9 ET40 HRE R40 wheels, with Michelin PSS tires. 44.8lbs per wheel/tire. Ohio roads aren't typically great, so I opted to move down from the original Ti wheels to my 18's. I'm on OEM ADS non-lowered suspension, and the ride is quite good - neither too harsh or too soft - just right in Auto mode.

I went with the "standard" 18" wheels with my 2016 S4. I like those wheels so much better and I am also not a fan of excessively low profile tires with large wheels.

I think 18" wheels can look alright on this car if it's the right wheel+tire+ride height combination. I have 18" wheels for my winter setup and I'm not really a fan of the look, but in a way that breathes new life into the car every spring when I put my 19" setup back on. The relative comfort provided by the 18" tire sidewalls is nice while it lasts, though:

I'm in the exact same boat! Have had the peelers for about a year and a half and they're getting all banged up with the horrendous city streets of Washington DC, so I'm contemplating downsizing to a set of 18x8 BBS SX rims wrapped in 245/40/18 Michelin PSS as soon as the Contis are toast (looks like they still have another 1-2k left on them). Am also worried about possible regret but based on the "View on Vehicle" preview on Tirerack's website the 18's look fine.

I like it! I was thinking of staying with 255 as well and not dropping down to 245's. Those HRE's are tight btw. I'm not always of fan of theirs but those look great. Don't think I'll be spending that kind of money though, BBS's will be about the high end for me this time around.

    Thanks for the pics!

I've been looking at the legerra HLT's. The weight reduction is quite nice but I'm not sure about the look on the car. Thanks for posting a pic of the Ultra leggeras. I had a set of 3 piece supperlegera's on a past car and liked them a lot.

Since you down sized, how noticeable was the performance increase? Did you down size from the peelers or from something else? If from the peelers I assume it was a fairly noticeable difference.

Yep, same deal. I think with the right wheel and tire setup it could actually look great but I'm concerned that with the wrong one it could also look pretty bad.

I'm considering the BBS RGR on the high end, SR and CH-R and also maybe the OZ leggera HLT's though I'm not sold on OZ's on this car, hoping to see more pics to maybe change my mind.

To all the winter posts, thanks for the pics. I would be going 18 for sure if I still lived in Canada but I've been in SoCal for 15 years now and it's pretty unlikely that I'll move back to snow at this point in my life!

I just run the OEM split 5 spoke 18's in winter. Not a big fan, but they look like they belong more than most of the aftermarket options, including the ones in this post. Not a fan of the more tuner style wheels.

The TSW Bathursts are awesome wheels on the S4 though.

I go back and forth from Peelers to the OEM 18's like Caymanite above. It's amazing how much more comfortable the 18's are over bumps. I also like the look of the 18s over the peelers. Wish more companies offered a nice lightweight 18" wheel.

If lowerd with proper poke 18's can look fine. Especially if spoke'd wheels.

Agreed. I see you have an S2000 in your garage. Still one of my favorite cars, I'd still have mine if an F-150 hadn't torn the ass of of it trying to cut over while I was stuck at a dead stop in an exit/on ramp lane... Had CE28's on it, now that's a killer light weight forged wheel (on the right car of course).

Here's mine in winter mode. Not the most attractive 18's, but they do the job and ride well on 245/40 blizzaks.

I did downgrade from peelers and I'll know more about the 14lb/corner weight reduction after I make a few passes this weekend. The look is more of an acquired taste I understand, the OZ's are very understated which as an older guy I like. Not to mention my car is on stock springs (again ride quality) which works for me as I'm more about ride than appearance- but I'm sure that if lowered you'd probably be happier with the looks than what I'm presenting. Another angle FWIW- Either way, good luck!

I did the BBS RGRs for winter in an 18x8 ET35. Tire Rack had a clearance sale on when I picked them up back in 2010. The pic is of the 235/45-18 Pilot Alpin PA3s. Pretty tall sidewall and minor speedo error with those. Just ordered a set of Pilot Alpin PA4s in 245/40-18 size and having the tires mounted next week. RGRs are made in Japan under license to BBS (or at least they were back then). 6 years of driving on winter roads and they're still in excellent shape.

Running spacers at all? They look good on your drop. Shopping for an 18" winter set since it practically snows by Halloween here in Michigan.

Yeah just picked it up a few weeks ago. Awesome car!

Nice, Silverstone same as mine but I had the red/black interior. I'll pick up another one some day for sure, had done everything I wanted to do to it short of the supercharger. Enjoy it, still my favorite car I've owned and that's saying a lot because I've had a lot of nice cars.

RGRs are made in Japan under license to BBS (or at least they were back then). 6 years of driving on winter roads and they're still in excellent shape.

Nice! I had RG-Rs on my B6 and was really happy with them. I always liked the diamond black color that they have. Seems like the 19s they offer in our bolt pattern have a strange offset, though.

Question, what tires/size are you running on these? I really like the way it sits. (what size Ultraleggeras too, seriously starting to consider going with leggeras)
