I bought this car with 6000 miles on it from an insurance auction. My father is a professional auto repair expert. It was smashed in the rear. He repaired all damage and I have been driving since 4/2012. I have pictures of the original damage if anyone wants to see. It was just body damage, no frame or suspension.
My commute to work is 150 miles round trip per day....so 90% of these miles are highway.

I have recently purchased a 2014 Audi S4 to replace this one. This is the reason for selling.

I absolutely love this car.....its super fast, has been super reliable and gets great gas mileage.....24MPG average.

NADA value says $21,000 for good condition. I am reducing the price due to the salvage title. New price was $60,000

I'm sorry but there is no way that car has been salvaged at 6k miles if the repairs weren't higher than the value of the car at that time, and the repairs don't seem to be, or another reason for insurance to total it out would be frame damage to the point of no return. I don't believe this car has been totaled out 4 years ago with 6k on the odometer without a really good reason besides the trunk, tail light, bumper, quarter panel, exhaust being damaged.

You would be surprised. I'm an estimator and I write up cars for State Farm. That could easily be a total loss, or the customer decided they wanted a replacement instead of this car repaired.

Dude 2011 s4 in 2012 with 6k miles with MSRP of high 50's if not 60k was still worth around 40k. There is no way an insurance company will brush that off and give them a replacement vehicle if they could fix that car for 10-15k

I do this quite often. Go to IAAI or Copart and investigate. You will see that there are plenty of cars that get totaled that are not as bad as one would assume. PashaS4 is right on.

I own an Autobody shop and would total this car out for that kind of damage. What the average customer doesn't realize is that an insurance company will total out a car sometimes when repairs are only at about 50-60% of the value of the car. Second repairs on an Audi are expensive due to higher then normal book times to replace things like quarter panels and unibody components. They also require a lot more paint work then normal vehicles since there is no break between the quarters and the roof. Because of this a full clear cost needs to be extended to the roof and opposite quarter panel that you are painting. Iv painted 3/4 of some Audi's just to replace a fender and blend color onto the A pilar. Long story short that repair in my shop would easily run close to 25k if not more depending on what the floor pan and rear body panel looked like.

This is totally true. I had a scratch on my bumper into the quarter and door and damm near the whole car needed to be painted because there is no break on the roof. Over 12k in damages in my case, this is easy double that. @ 25k in damages you're close the 50% book value and thats being super conservative IMHO so I'm not surprised to see this being totaled. At 16k its a steal if you're not going to be reselling the car in the near future.

Ive never heard not being able to get insurance on a salvage/rebuilt title. I'm also in MI and I've had a few salvage cars in the past that were insured without any issues.
