    Best B7 A4 2.0T MPGs

Just looking to see what other got as far as fuel economy and the best ways to get good fuel economy. I have a 2008 Quattro S-Line 2.0T 6MT. The best I got was 36 mpg driving from Chicago to Pittsburgh (around 450 miles). Speed was around 70mph. I contribute the good fuel economy mostly to the flat terrain.

During my commute, which is around 25% city, 75% highway, and very hilly, I usually get around 25-27, but got as high as 29mpg babying it and some basic hypermiling.

I'm pretty sure it can do better though. What do you guys think?

If that's based upon the incar fuel gauge, it's wrong, it's actually over estimating it, most people average 18 city 25 highway (and that's a bit of a higher estimate on the 25) I think I mostly saw 22-23. If you go big turbo I guess it nets you actual fuel economy right around the numbers your talking about.

You've got to figure out the numbers manually though, I know I average around 24 ish but I baby it like hell and I stay right around 2k

I always calculate my MPG by dividing the number of miles driven on the previous tank, by how many gallons I just put in when I fill up...

As mentioned you cant use the gauge to jack shit... yeah I was doing 68 MPG downhill from Mt. Everest

Good ol' calculus is your friend. My average is 26 MPG over the last two years (90/10 freeway - street) - a year with Stage 1 and the last year Stage 2+

On the highway i'll average about 30 mpg more or less. In the city I average about 20 or so.

Best I've gotten was 27-28 on a trip from Seattle to Montana with a fully loaded car: one passenger, two dogs, and a loaded Packasport on the roof. My average around the city is 18 though.

And I'll give the usual disclaimer here, no, my car is not broken. Everything is, in fact, working well. My low mileage is due to the city traffic, stoplights, turnouts from a stop into fast moving traffic (necessitating WOT annoyingly frequently) and frequent short trips (>2miles). My better half's 2012 Q5 gets 16-17 in the same usage as did my 2004 1.8t that was running tip tip top. So yea, my mileage sucks, but its not my fault...

I do 23-26 on average and 100% high way is 28-29. I'm flashed Staged II w/hpfp on a 2.0T Quattro. (Usually either have bike/ski racks or a Thule box)

Kubus who bought his car brand new in 2005 and is flashed stage 1 on a 2.0T Quattro had been teasing me because he does 30-31 on the highway.

My personal best is 31 mpg on a stage 3 maestro tune with 100% hoghway on flat terrain. I normally average about 26 mpg with my normal commute (80/20 highway/city). This is on a 6MT Quattro 2.0

best I ever got was 33.1 (7.1 l/100km) as by the gauge outside, no highway. Basically doing about 60 in 6th. Usually I do around 27.6 (8.5/100) outside and 16 (14.5/100) in town, but that depends heavily on traffic.
best city: 21 (11/100) and the overall average is somewhere around 23 (10.2/100) on the long run the gauge is pretty accurate. I always check the distance and fuel I've put in it so the average is spot on, I always top it so it's easy for me.
Can't say the same about the in/out short term though

    Best B7 A4 2.0T MPGs

    Here is me on Fuelly:

And I was wrong, my top MPG was 28.3 on some trip a few years ago, I think out to Montana, but probably without the roof box. Once you get outside Seattle the speed limit fluctuated between 60 and 70. When it's 70 I generally cruise at 85 or so. If I slowed down in sure my mileage would top 30. But given that I can shave over an hour off the trip for every 10mph faster I go, I opt for a faster trip. Rather than saving a few gallons of gas.

    since this summer :

    - 3 hours trip, 100% highway @68mph = 30.1 mpg
    - 6 hours trip, 100% highway @75mph with roofrack = 26mpg
    - Daily drive is 100% city , so = 23mpg.

I have no average. Because dd is city. weekend trip is highway, if I go on trip.

I tend to average 33-35mpg on long highway trips (4+ hours)

Mixed city and highway nets me closer to 29mpg

My MPGs went WAY down in my b6 when I was tuned, but that was more a factor of me having fun dipping into boost more often, haha. Real world, normal driving, the MPGs stayed roughly the same. As time went on and I fixed small problems and got maintenance on it up to par, MPGs rose (obviously). Realistically a tune that is properly done won't affect mileage negatively (could even add a few MPGs if it runs a bit leaner). Your right foot will however significantly affect efficiency.

average about 24-25 with mixed driving on a b7 fronttrack CVT driving like granny. Sportmode takes it down to 20-21 easily.

When a coilpack left me stranded, I replaced all 4 and sparkplugs which netted me another 1-2 mpg

Mine averaged 17-18 around local. Highway, the averaged is up to 25. Noway in hell this car can average 30mpg. I know the exact route to get it to average 35mpg (still able to get to work and get back) but it's a pain in the ass and if I go anywhere else, my average would go way down.

My daily commute for the past 4 years is 70 miles back & forth to work, 99% highway.
Best trip I ever had to work was 35mpg flat, have the pic.
Otherwise I can do anywhere btwn 23.5 (stomping on the throttle) to 32 mpg.

You could drive like a grandma and hypermile the shit out of the car and maaaaybe touch mid 30s but it would take all the fun out of driving. All to eek out a few dollars of gas per tank. No thanks. I'll take my 18mpgs and have fun while driving.

Also running your engine all the way through its rev range at high and low loads is GOOD for the engine. Lugging it to all hell, and never pushing the higher revs IMO is bad for the engine. They're designed to rev. Let them rev!
