Is this clear coat damage correctable?

I just noticed this after washing the car the other day. It appears that something dripped on the hood and ran down it and left this blemish. It can be felt by touch slightly. Original paint on a car that spent most of it's time outside until now under my ownership. I've hit it with clay and rubbing compound by hand and haven't had much luck. Will a DA polisher and a heavy cutting compound resolve something like this or will I need to respray the hood.

    Appreciate the opinions.

    Thanks everyone.

Hard to tell. You could hit it lightly with some 3000 grit wet paper, cloud it over then polish back with your DA. If that doesn't get it out, chances are it's through and through. Do the best you can. Would hate to respray it if you can live with the end result.

I would really take a closer look at this under a magnifier for your phone or laptop. That will give you an idea of if it has gone thru the clear coat or not.
