Driver's Lock Button Broken Off - Next Steps?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Guys,

So, after only owning the car 3 weeks, I got home from the car wash on Saturday and realized my lock button had fallen off. It looks like it might have got stuck on a towel one of the workers was using and just ripped it out, breaking the tabs that hold it in. So, I found the replacement on ECS Tuning, but it appears it is the whole button mechanism, and not just the button itself that I could snap in. Do I really have to remove the whole door card to replace this part, or is there an easier way?

Had the same problem. But before I spent the time to replace the whole switch, I tried a little hot glue at the broken tab connection point. That was over a year ago, and still working perfectly. Had nothing to lose... and it has worked out fine thus far. Good luck!

Go back to the dealer if you only had it for 3 weeks. Unless its a used car.

It's a 2010. I may try the glue option, but does anyone know the process for replacing the full switch?

It pops right out. The metal tab that clicked it into place is at the bottom of the switch. Just need something thin, flat, and strong to wedge in there and pry the tab up and pull the switch out.

A little polymer adhesive would be perfect. Small dab at each point, hold it there for 10 minutes, then let the car sit another hour. It'll take 24 hours to cure, but that should be enough for it to stick. After that, the button will never come off again.
